2. Developing talent to support our vision for a high performance organization
This program also falls in accordance with SFPUC’s Community Benefits Policy and Racial Justice Resolution.

skilled and di verse workers to jobs at the SFPUC and exposing the communities in our service areas to the scope and bread th of our services and their impact.
Furthermore, these efforts contribute to goals identified in the SFPUC’s Racial Justice Resolution (No. 20-0149), which expresses the agency’s commitment to addressing his toric and current exclusion of Black, Indigenous , and People of Color (BIPOC) from the utility workforce. Towards that end, the agency is committed to (1) building awareness of water, power, and sewer services and careers for BIPOC youth, and (2) conducting outreach to BIPOC youth regarding SFPUC internships and jobs. Given these f actors and other cha llenges related to the SFPUC’s upcoming employee retirement s, it is extremely important for the agency to equitably invest in increasing awareness of and interest in SF PUC careers from potential applicants and populations that are underrepresented in the utility industry.
This grant will increase the number and diversity of San Fr ancisco youth and young adults meaningfully engaged in SFPUC -based learning opportunities , while enhancing the participants’ awareness and understanding of water, power, and sewer services, environmental stewardship, and civic- community engagement. Furthermore, t hrough this grant, youth and young adults will serve as partners of the SFPUC and ambassadors to the broader community.
