Background: The water main replacement work under this contract was part of the Water Enterprise Local Conveyance/Distribution System Program. Much of the City’s water system infrastructure was built in the later part of the 19th century.

This program includes the rep lacement of old pipes that have either been damaged or are at the end of their useful service life to ensure reliable water delivery within the City. The City installed the existing 6-inch water mains along with the 16-inch to 24-inch transmission mains that have been replaced under this contract between 1888 and 1906; due to their age span between 113 and 131 years, they were at risk of failure and needed replacement.

The sewer replacement work under this contract was part of Wastewater Enterprise, Renewal and Replacement Program. After inspection, Wastewater Enterprise Collection System Division Staff determined that the main sewers were in need of replacement.

The City completed the pavement renovation work under this contract as part of the Public Wor ks Street Resurfacing Program. The
City completed the
parking lot renovation at 4061 24 th Street as part of San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency Sustainable Streets Program. The Public Works Streets and Highways Section inspected street pavement on the subject streets along with the parking lot and determined that they needed to be replaced.

On January 14, 2020, by Resolution No. 20- 0009, the Commission awarded WD-2739, Pavement Renovation, Sewer Replacement, and Water Main Replacement on Castr o Street and 26th Street , to Cratus, Inc., (Contractor).

The original contract amount was [Original Award Amount $] and the original contract duration was 730 consecutive calendar days.
