Background: In 1954, the City and County of San Francisco (City) designed and built the Mariposa Pump Station (Pump Station) on Port property near the foot of Mariposa Street at 855 Terry Francoise Boulevard to convey combined wastewater flows from approximately 240 acres of the City to the Southeast Water Pollution Control Plant. Subsequently, the City installed a transport/storage box with wet -weather pumps and a wet - weather force main (Force Main) adjacent to the original pump station.

After the City installed the wet- weather system, the Pump Station and associated force main have conveyed both dry and wet weather wastewater flows to the Southeast Water Pollution Control Plant.

Due to recent high-density real estate developments in the City, the dry- weather wastewater flows to the Pump Station have increased. The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) evaluated the anticipated increase in wastewater flows and developed the Mariposa Dry-Weather Pump Station and Force Main improvements (the Project) in order to convey the increased combined dry -weather sewa ge to
Southeast Water Pollution Control Plant and meet its regulatory requirements.

The SFPUC completed the Force Main portion of the Project under contract DB -128R2, the Bay Corridor Transmission Distribution Agenda Title: WW-667, Mariposa Dry Weather Pump Station Improvements Commission Meeting Date: August 22, 2023
