2. UPDATE ON SURVEY AND RESEARCH FINDINGS
Interim CFO Mosca introduced Tom Patras from Research Incorporated, who provided brief summary of the presentation on this item.
Chair Jung stated that after the research findings, the Board should be cautious about pushing climate control messaging because it is not resonating with our consumer base. He further stated that there is a confirmed need for further outreach to inform people of OCPA and the different plans offered.
Director Sonne stated that climate change was important to the younger voices in the Orange County communities. She also supports the need for outreach and getting the OCPA messaging to all communities.
Director Kim requested clarification on the types of surveys, who the target audience was, and if the surveys were offered in different languages such as Korean, Taiwanese and Chinese. Requested information on why there was a huge delta amongst Vietnamese, Korean and Chinese.
Vice Chair Treseder provided her takeaways from the presentation. She believed OCPA should lower rates. She would like to hear from the residents of Santa Ana to see if they would like to join OCPA in the future. She asked if there was a possibility to target the messages to specific groups. Groups that are in favor of climate change provide them that messaging. She was happy to see that climate change researchers are well respected because she is one.
Brenda Deely, Reveille representative, further provided an update on the various messaging done after these surveys. She reported that the campaigns have been well received. She further stated that the media sentiment had shifted in a positive direction.
