Hi Nellie, please find below my comment on this agenda. I am a current Community Advisory Committee (CAC) member but I’m commenting as an individual resident and residential customer in PCE service territory.

Dear honorable PCE executive committee, I’ve had the honor to serve on the CAC for the last couple of years. It’s been an amazing experience working and serving with highly experienced and skilled staff and fellow committee members who have a great depth of knowledge as well as history of PCE, and being able to help shape direction and policy at PCE.

I do concur with the recommendations of the board ad hoc committee to expand the CAC into the community feedback forum (CFF) which would allow other very interested in skilled community members to participate, which is currently not possible due to the size limitations of the current CAC, and allow leaders from other relevant nonprofits and community based organizations(CBO) to participate as well.

I do have concerns about the proposed change from a monthly meeting schedule to a quarterly meeting schedule or every other month meeting schedule . It has been my experience over the last couple years that there are enough agenda items to be discussed that justify a monthly meeting schedule. This is critical as the current meeting schedule is a couple weeks before the PCE full board schedule in a week before the executive committee schedule which allows community feedback to the board and executive committee that is in line with their monthly meeting schedules. Changing to a quarterly schedule, would not allow timely community discussion and feedback to the board or the executive committee on critical board agenda items. This defeats the purpose of the goal of getting more community feedback by expanding the CAC in today CFF.

Therefore, I would strongly recommend that the CFF meet on a monthly basis on the week that is two weeks before the full board meeting, similar to the current CAC schedule.

If there is concerned about additional staff time needed to run the meetings monthly versus quarterly or every other month, I would suggest that, with the expanded participants in the CFF, staff could draw from those participant volunteers to help with meeting logistics to reduce overall staff time/cost.

As far as the CFF meeting format is concerned, I do concur that staff can experiment with different formats, such as workshops with breakout groups, different locations, etc., as per the ad hoc committee’s recommendation, to help bring out the most feedback from the community I do look forward to helping PCE staff set up/guide the new CFF, and participating in the CFF in the new year.

Thank you for your consideration
