Hi Nelly,
I'm writing regarding 10/22/26 agenda item 10. I would absolutely love to see WestLight Energy be a signatory to the joint CCA letter of support regarding the BAAD Rule 9-6. WestLight Energy has been an incredible supporter of home electrification, and having our CCA show support for the BAAD rules is really important for the passage of Rule 9-6.
I recently completed the electrification of my home and I couldn't be happier to be off fossil fuels and I look forward to the Bay Area continuing to lead the way for healthy air and innovative rules to prevent the worst of climate change.
Thank you,
Nancy Larocca Hedley

Fwd: Item 10 - Support authorizing CEO to add Westlight to the joint CCA letter Thu, Oct 22, 2026 at 3:44 PM

Subject: Item 10 - Support authorizing CEO to add Westlight to the joint CCA letter To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Dear Chair Medina and Board of Directors,
In line with Menlo Spark's support of Westlight since it was originally proposed over a decade ago, we support Westlight's Board authorizing the CEO to sign the joint CCA letter. We do so for three reasons:
1. There is nothing unusual in signing this letter. Westlight regularly takes stances on issues in front of another elected body, the state legislature.
What is proposed here is normal procedure, especially given a subject matter that strongly affects Westlight.
2. Westlight's interest is directly involved here, so it is appropriate to delegate authority to the CEO. Westlight's job is to provide affordable clean energy in service of the environment. Switching the community from polluting and climate-destroying methane gas to clean electricity is exactly why the communities in San Mateo County formed Westlight. Importantly, electrification makes Westlight more efficient - it creates more clean electricity revenue with minimal additional administrative costs, reducing the administrative cost of each kilowatt-hour delivered. It also increases Westlight's ability to provide program funding.
3. The resolution conveys authority to the CEO without requiring a signature. If there is any last-minute reason for the CEO not to sign then she can choose not to do so. This does not need prior City Council consideration, just as other Westlight Board decisions are up to the individual Directors to make.
We urge the Board to move this forward, something that could be a crucial step in support of fellow CCAs and in support of Westlight's core mission.
Sincerely,
Brian Schmidt
