12 Prioritizing the Benefits of Community Space
Staff is seeking policy direction on the benefits the Board of Directors would like to prioritize in the community space.

This session is not focused on specific ideas or design specifications.

Rather, staff will collect input on Board priorities and work with the building design team to create a space that maximizes those benefits.

Example: If BOD prioritizes education and supporting local nonprofits, SVCE staff will direct designers to develop design proposals for a community space that emphasizes education and supports local nonprofit gatherings.

1. Collect Additional Benefits (7mins). Benefits we have heard so far:
• Revenue – should the space generate revenue?
• Innovation – how important is it to support technology innovation? Is this a core role? • Community organization – do we want to create a space for community groups? • Education – do we want to hold educational events for students? Contractors? Others? • Customer service/ bill education – do we want to create in-person resources for customers?

2. Forced Ranking Exercise (20 mins).

Rank benefits based on your priorities (each person gets two of each color):
• Green = essential
• Yellow = important
• Blue = nice-to-have
