The presentation included a recap of the Member Agency Grant Program, background information on the grants awarded and the $500,000 available from unused funds, and two potential options for the use of those unused funds:
• Option 1 – Distribute to the 2024 Noncompetitive Member Agency Grant, increasing existing budget from $3 million to $3.5 million; or
• Option 2 – Distribute to the developing Community Grants, increasing the current $3.5M budget to $4.0M
Staff expressed support for Option 2, as outlined in the recommendation.
Staff responded to questions and comments regarding whether any member agency projects that were already submitted could benefit from receiving the additional funds to avoid cancelling a project; types of organizations eligible for receiving grants, specifically religious organizations; SVCE’s competitive and non-competitive member agency grants; Member Agency grant application deadlines; and breaking down the available funds by distribution size.
