SUBJECT: Public Comments from CDBG/HOME Annual Action Plan Community Meeting April 20, 2023

The following public comments and suggestions for future use of CDBG and/or HOME funds were shared by the public at the Annual Action Plan community meeting held on April 20, 2023 at the Ceres Community Center:
• Sidewalks south of Lawrence on 9th and 10th streets
• Speed bump or traffic control
• Smyrna Park improvements
• Street lighting in high crime areas
• First time home buyer program, using CDBG funding (HOME funding is currently already used for this)
• Solar panels on affordable housing or apartments
• Construction of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)
• Rental assistance program (similar to San Jose's plan) o Veterans and low income
• Local churches to build ADUs, then rent them for temporary housing
• Housing rehabilitation program
o Dual pane windows, solar panels, and energy efficiency upgrades
• HOME funds to be used for impact fees in targeted areas
