MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CERRITOS CITY COUNCIL AND THE SUCCESSOR AGENCY TO THE CERRITOS REDEVELOPMENT HELD ON APRIL 27, 2022, 7:00 P.M. IN THE COUNCIL CHAMBER AT CERRITOS CITY HALL, 18125 BLOOMFIELD AVENUE, CERRITOS, CALIFORNIA.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Invocation
The invocation was given by Jeff Luddington, Generations Church.
3. Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Cub Scout Pack 72.
4. Roll Call
The following members of the City Council/Successor Agency were in attendance:

5. Public Comments and Suggestions
The Mayor opened public comments.
Ren Sabio, pastor at New Hope Community Church, offered a prayer for Councilmember Elect Lynda Johnson.
Noting there were no other individuals who elected to speak, the Mayor closed public comments.
6. Mayor’s Welcome and Introductions
Mayor Hu introduced dignitaries in attendance. Each Councilmember, the Mayor Pro Tem, and the Mayor introduced their family and guests in attendance.
7. Recognition of outgoing Councilmembers and Mayor
Presentations were made to outgoing Mayor Grace Hu. A video was displayed highlighting Mayor Hu’s years of service.
8. Installation of newly elected Councilmembers
City Clerk Vida Barone administered the Oath of Office to newly elected Council/Agency member Frank Yokoyama.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva administered the Oath of Office to newly elected Council/Agency member Lynda P. Johnson.

9. Annual Mayoral Transition (Selection of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem)
Vida Barone, City Clerk, declared the office of Mayor/Chair vacant and called for nominations for the office of Mayor/Chair.
Council/Agency Member Barrows nominated Council/Agency Member Vo for the office of Mayor/Chair.
Noting there were no further nominations, the City Clerk declared nominations closed.
MOTION: As nominated by Council/Agency Member Barrows, Council/Agency Member Vo, was presented for consideration as Mayor/Chair.
The motion carried (4 - 1) as follows:
AYES: Barrows, Johnson, Solanki, Vo
NOES: Yokoyama
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
The City Clerk declared Council/Agency Member Vo elected to the office of Mayor/Chair by acclamation.
The office of Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair was declared vacant by Mayor/Chair Vo and he called for nominations for the office of Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair.
Mayor Vo nominated Council/Agency Member Barrows for the office of Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair.
Noting there were no further nominations, Mayor/Chair Vo declared nominations closed.
MOTION: As nominated by Mayor/Chair Vo, Council/Agency Member Barrows was presented for consideration as Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair.
The motion carried (4 - 1) as follows:
AYES: Barrows, Johnson, Solanki, Vo
NOES: Yokoyama

ABSTAIN: None

10. Closing Comments (Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and Councilmembers)
Comments were made by Councilmembers Yokoyama, Johnson, and Solanki, Mayor Pro Tem Barrows, and Mayor Vo.
Mayor/Chair Vo invited the community to a reception at the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts.
