MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CERRITOS CITY COUNCIL AND THE SUCCESSOR AGENCY TO THE CERRITOS REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY HELD THURSDAY, APRIL 10, 2024, 7:00 P.M., IN THE MAIN THEATER AT CERRITOS CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS , 18000 PARK PLAZA DRIVE, CERRITOS, CALIFORNIA.
1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
2. Invocation
The invocation was given by Brent Eldridge, Arbor Road Church, Long Beach.
3. Pledge of Allegiance
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Boy Scout Troop 72.
4. Performance of the National Anthem
The National Anthem was performed by Sofia Aniceto.
5. Roll Call
The following members of the City Council/Successor Agency were in attendance:

The Mayor opened the public comments period.
Written public comments:
Vida Barone, City Clerk/Treasurer, announced that written public comments submitted by the deadline listed on the agenda are considered public record. Prior to the meeting, the Council/Agency members received full-text, unredacted copies of the one ( 1) written comment submitted under Item 6 for Item 7. Requests for copies of the written comments submitted for this meeting can be made during regular business hours to the Office of the City Clerk/Treasurer.
Noting there were no other individuals who elected to provide public comment, the Mayor declared the public comments period closed.
7. Annual Mayoral Transition and City Council/Successor Agency Reorgani zation Ceremony
A. Welcome and introductions
Mayor Barrows introduced dignitaries in attendance. Each Councilmember, the Mayor Pro Tem, and the Mayor introduced their family and guests in attendance.

B. Recognition of outgoing Mayor/Chair and presentations by dignitaries
Presentations were made to outgoing Mayor Bruce W. Barrows. A video was displayed highlighting Mayor Barrows’ year of service.
C. Selection of Mayor/Chair and Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair
Mayor/Chair Barrows declared the office of Mayor/Chair vacant and called for nominations for the office of Mayor/Chair.
Council/Agency Member Barrows nominated Council/Agency Member Solanki for the office of Mayor/Chair.
Noting there were no further nominations, the City Clerk declared nominations closed.
NOMINATION: As nominated by Council/Agency Member Barrows, Council/Agency Member Solanki was presented for consideration as Mayor/Chair (COUNCIL/SUCCESSOR AGENCY).
The nomination carried (4 - 1) as follows:
AYES: Barrows, Johnson, Solanki, Vo
NOES: Yokoyama
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
The City Clerk declared Council/Agency Member Solanki as Mayor/Chair.
The City Clerk declared the office of Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair vacant and called for nominations for the office of Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair.
Mayor/Chair Solanki nominated Council/Agency Member Vo for the office of Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair.
Noting there were no further nominations, the City Clerk declared nominations closed.
NOMINATION: As nominated by Mayor/Chair Solanki, Council/Agency Member Vo was presented for consideration as Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair (COUNCIL/SUCCESSOR AGENCY).

The City Clerk declared Council/Agency Member Vo as Mayor Pro Tem/Vice Chair.
