5.2. 2025 CITY COUNCIL MEETING CALENDAR
In order to better facilitate the scheduling of Council meetings so that both the Councilmembers and citizens have a more advanced notice of the City's scheduled meetings, Mayor Reynolds recommended that the City Council consider approving a yearly calendar that contains proposed Council meetings for the upcoming year. Special Meetings can still be called, using the 24-hour noticing requirement, and will be scheduled on an as-needed basis. However, it seems like every year, due to holidays or summer schedules, regular meetings sometimes get moved which can cause confusion for our citizens.
In January, due to the League of California Cities New Mayor and Council Member Academy, it was proposed that the second Council meeting in January be moved to Tuesday, January 28th in order to facilitate Council attendance at the training that begins on January 22nd. It was also proposed that instead of going dark on the 2nd meeting of both July and August for the summer months, that the Council instead go dark on the 2nd meeting of those months in order to avoid the Fourth of July holiday and again, to ensure consistency and continuity in the City's meeting schedule. (Report - Deborah R. Presson, City Clerk & Elections Official) Addressing the Council on this matter was Stephen Hazel.
