Proclamation'
WHEREAS, on October 24, 2024, Chino will join over 8,000 local events in every corner of the country to celebrate the 25'h Annual Lights On Afterschool event. The only nationwide event celebrating after school programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and WHEREAS, the City of Chino is committed to quality after school programs for all youth because these programs:
• Provide safe, challenging, and engaging learning experiences. • Boost students' academic achievement.
• Support working families by ensuring their children are safe and productive. volunteers in the lives of youth.
WHEREAS, members of the Chino Focus on Youth Collaborative, including the City of Chino and Chino Valley Unified School District, along with many other youth service organizations, provide significant leadership in the area of community involvement to enhance the education and well-being of Chino's youth during after-school hours; providing safe places for youth to become successful adults; and
WHEREAS, the Chino community believes that every child should have access to a safe, friendly place where the lights are on after school.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EUNICE M. ULLOA, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CHINO, do hereby proclaim October 24, 2024, as
LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL DAY
and urge all residents to take advantage of the programs and services that are available to the community.
