Proclamation
WHEREAS, on October 23, 2025, Chino will join more than 8,000 local events nationwide in celebrating the 26'h Annual Lights on Afterschool event. The only nationwide event that highlights after school programs and their vital role in the lives of children, families, and communities and
WHEREAS, the City of Chino is committed to supporting high-quality after school programs for all youth by:
• Providing safe, enriching, and engaging learning experiences. • Enhancing students' academic success and social development. • Supporting working families by ensuring their children are safe and productive during after-school hours.
• Strengthening communities by connecting students, parents, community organizations, and volunteers in meaningful ways; and
WHEREAS, members of the Chino Focus on Youth Collaborative, including the City of Chino and Chino Valley Unified School District, along with many other youth service organizations, provide essential leadership by promoting community involvement to support the education, growth, and well-being of Chino's youth during after-school hours; helping them build the skills needed to become successful adults; and
WHEREAS, the Chino community believes that every child should have access to a safe and welcoming place where the lights are on after school.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, EUNICE M. ULLOA, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF CHINO, do hereby proclaim October 23, 2025, as
LIGHTS ON AFTERSCHOOL DAY
and urge all residents to take advantage of the programs and services that are available to the community.
