PRESENTATION - MEASURE I UPDATE [00:04:48]
City Clerk Balz introduced Tim Watkins, Chief of Legislative and Public Affairs for San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) who provided a brief video and PowerPoint presentation on Measure I, which is on file in the City Clerk's Office. He spoke about the history of Measure I, how it generates money annually, what portion is given back to the city, creation of jobs regionally, local accomplishments, and completed and ongoing projects. Lastly, Mr. Watkins said that there is a survey available on SBCTA's website at: www.goSBCTA.com, for anyone who would like to provide feedback on Measure I.

Vice Mayor Johsz asked how much money Chino Hills' residents have paid into Measure I funds and what the return on investment is. Mr. Watkins stated that he would provide that information to the City Clerk at a later time, but on average, $2 million is returned annually to the City of Chino Hills for roadway projects.

Mayor Bennett asked Public Works Director Bobadilla about the extension of Peyton Avenue to Soquel Canyon Parkway and whether it was conditioned on development in the area and Public Works Director Bobadilla answered affirmatively.

Council Member Marquez asked Mr. Watkins if SBCTA was considering increasing the half-cent sales tax measure to a one cent sales tax and Mr. Watkins confirmed that the Board is discussing and evaluating what makes sense moving forward for the County and how the public would respond to an increase.

Vice Mayor Johsz asked if Measure I is extended, if the City needs to have project already on the list.
