REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION:
This is the final action by City Council required by the California Streets and Highways Code for the levy and collection of the annual assessments for the LLD. Council has previously adopted resolutions for the initiation of proceedings and for the intention to levy and collect the annual assessments. The City Engineer has prepared a report labeled Engineer’s Report of the City of Chowchilla Landscape Maintenance and Lighting District No. 90-1, dated July 2026, as required by law, and filed the report with the City Clerk. The report includes descriptions of the improvements maintained, boundaries of the district and benefit zones, and proposed assessments per parcel. This final action requires the City Council to conduct the required public hearing, receive any testimony, and confirm the annual assessments after considering any protests received. The assessment roll is then submitted to the County Assessor for inclusion on the property owner’s tax bill.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The annual assessments from the LLD are used for maintenance of public landscaping and street lighting.
The total assessment for this year is $313,734.78. The maintenance costs and assessments for each benefit zone and parcel are provided in the Engineer’s Report on file with the City Clerk. A summary of the total assessments for each benefit zone is included in the following table.
