How has your participation reflected the interests and concerns with the protection of the civil liberties of all people which make up the City's residents? Catholic Charities currently serves the City of Chula Vista residents. Since its founding, the role of Catholic Charities has been to provide social welfare programs, witness the scriptural values of mercy and justice, and advocate for the poor and vulnerable within the diocese. While evolving over the past 101 years, Catholic Charities has remained faithful to its original mandate: to assist the child, the family, the immigrant, and the marginalized. In this new millennium and beyond, our role as the caretakers of the Catholic Charities tradition and creators of new opportunities and service in the community will be judged not by the size of the budget or the number of programs but by fidelity to the mission.

As a 17 year resident of the City of Chula Vista, I have seen an increase in the City's residents becoming more diverse, which gives the City great opportunities to showcase itself as a leader in country with better interconnected community.
25. What would you hope to accomplish in the role of a Human Relations Commissioner? (250 words or less) As a Human Relations Commissioner, I would like to bring more diversity to the Human Relations Commission and bring diverse groups together to make the City of Chula a model for community togetherness.
