I worked as a bedside nurse for almost 3 years. Even though I got paid more than $25/hour, I was directly affected by support staff who weren't. Being unable to retain good, trained staff means as the nurse I had to do a lot of extra work, and it just wasn't possible to provide a high level of care to patients without the appropriate support staff. I ended up injuring my back from turning patients by myself, and have since left bedside nursing. Patient care also suffered because you can't be in two places at once. Raising the minimum wage to $25/hour will help to keep hospitals staffed so that patients get the quality care they deserve.

Leticia
I am inviting the City Council to walk with us this weekend, September 16th at 8:30 am in support of Chula Vista's Harborside Park.

I, Leticia Lares representing the Southwest Chula Vista residents, NEED the city council to support our needs. This walk is a call for the City Council. We VOTED for them to REPRESENT US, they are OUR employees, as WE PAY their SALARY, and they NEED to listen to our NEEDS.

We, the Southwest Chula Vista residents would like OUR COUNCIL representative for District 4 Andrea Cárdenas to really represent us and fight for OUR Harborside Park, and to present the NEED we have to the other three council members Chávez, González, and Preciado, in support of the RE-opening of Harborside Park. We NEED OUR PARK BACK! -Thank you for your attention, Southwest Chula Vista residents of District 4.

God bless you, and God Bless Chula Vista
The public may address the Council on any matter within the jurisdiction of the Council but not on the agenda.

I oppose the installation of a fence at the park as it restricts owners from deciding the risk of having their dogs off-leash. Instead, I suggest considering alternative solutions such as offering dog owners the choice to assume responsibility for their pets. Additionally, it's crucial to address the lack of a ranger who can patrol the harborside park.

I am concerned about the self-serving behavior displayed by the current leadership. It's essential that decisions are made in the best interest of the community as a whole, rather than serving personal agendas. Furthermore, there seems to be a lack of accountability among city workers, which is affecting the overall efficiency of their duties. It would be greatly appreciated if corrective measures were taken to ensure the completion of tasks.

As stakeholders, it is important for us to be aware of any potential Brown Act violations, and to remember that we hold the ultimate authority in shaping the community. Let us work together to foster an environment where decisions are made transparently and for the benefit of all.

Lastly, I would like to express my concern regarding the closure of swings in the past and my desire reopened i riped the tape you would to use to close them during PLANDEMIC make us reopen our park again. TRY it.. Ensuring that recreational facilities are maintained and accessible contributes to the well-being of the community.

Thank you for considering my perspective and addressing these important issues.

I support the bill in raising healthcare workers minimum wage. I urge counsel members to budge and approve this bill. Healthcare workers provide so many life saving services to the community day in and day out. It only makes sense to begin compensating them accordingly Stephanie Flores
Please pass the minimum wage for healthcare workers.

Dustin Steiner
On behalf of the 900 member companies of the Associated General Contractors San Diego Chapter:

We are glad to see the transparency ordinance amended to when subcontractors are onboarded. The process for disclosure should be simple and online.

We agree with the City Attorney's comments at the last meeting that minimum/prevailing wage for traffic control should be paused until the outcome of the current litigation at the County San Diego.

We oppose Project Labor Agreements with low monetary thresholds like the one proposed. Such PLAs discriminate against open shop contractors many of whom are small, local businesses. They also discriminate against open shop apprenticeship programs like AGC and the National Black Contractors Association. PLAs have been proven to increase costs and displace local workers. They also force workers to pay into union retirement funds without receiving the benefit (unless they vest with 5+ years of continuous work). This is why while we generally oppose government mandated PLAs, we could compromise on a higher threshold mirroring the federal plan for $35 Million and up. A higher threshold would allow City to incorporate PLAs while also reducing interruptions to much needed infrastructure investment.

Tom Finch
As a former Chula Vista resident for over 25 years and a current business owner in the city I highly recommend that the council reject PLA's on City projects. Eliminating open shop contractors will increase costs of projects to the CV taxpayer and take jobs from local workers.
