My primary interest is to bring equity and accountability to our city government. I believe Chula Vista is an amazing city and one where education can prosper. I have worked in higher education administration and believe we can do more for our youth and adult learners across the city. Many do not know the programs available many local schools offer or that libraries have more than just books to offer. My position as Director at Wahupa Education Services allows me the benefit of establishing relationships with many government officials and local organizations to improve access to education and | believe I can be an asset in this role on the Board of Library of Trustees

26. What would you hope to accomplish in the role of a Member of the Board of Library Trustees? (250 words or less) I believe we can do more to get all the resources the library offers to the hands of the general public. Many in our community do not know there are after school programs, child care, cultural arts events, adult programs, literacy programs, any much more. Looking at ways to stabilize funding at local and state levels is key to the success of our libraries. Overall, I believe there are many ways we can promote our libraries to get community engagement and I would love the opportunity to do so. I am a strong advocate of education and now that we are almost post pandemic, it would be great to get our community back involved in our amazing programs.

27. I understand that to be considered, I must submit a resume along with this application.

22. Which ones?
FIRST Robotics, VEX Robotics, Boy Scouts of America

23. In what ways are you associated with the business and or civic activities of the City? How has your participation reflected the interests and concerns with the protection of the civil liberties of all people which make up the City's residents? I had the opportunity to serve as a Council Aide Ill for former Councilmember Jerry Rindone from December 2000 to November 2008 and as a Council Aide Ill for then Councilmember John McCann from January-November 2010. In those positions, I met with community members, business leaders, and civic leaders; communicated via phone calls, letters, and emails; and attended a variety of events as their representative.

From 2006 to 2021 I was keenly involved with the vision, implementation, and expansion of FIRST and VEX Robotics programs in the San Diego County and in the Sweetwater Union High School District. I was most fortunate to work alongside visionaries in the development and implementation of the robotics programs in San Diego County and in the Sweetwater Union High School District.

Through my service as a council aide, teacher, and robotics coach, I have ample experiences with people from all walks of life. In these capacities I enjoy participating in projects and events that build, uplift, and edify those involved. It is always exhilarating to be a part of group events that promote good, touch hearts, and increase a feeling of community.

24. Please describe how you represent the diversity of Chula Vista? As a teacher in the Sweetwater Union High School District alternative education program and as a volunteer in robotics programs throughout San Diego County, I engage in teaching, connecting, encouraging, and inviting students, parents, and community members from all walks of life. I find it incredibly worthwhile to assist others in discovering their skill sets, developing their talents, and blessing the lives of others in the process. Witnessing the excitement, confidence, and spirit of camaraderie grow among students and community members engaged in a common cause is electrifying! As a 50+ year resident of Chula Vista, I consider myself among the "diverse" population of residents who love our City and desire to continue its welcoming, safe, cohesive, and family oriented atmosphere by building a shared sense of community.

25. Please describe your interest in fostering better human relations in the City of Chula Vista.

I would enjoy devoting my time, talents, and energy to work alongside the many other creative, trustworthy, and visionary Chula Vista community members in advancing our City's mission: "To build and nurture a progressive and cohesive community which values our diversity, respects our citizens, honors our legacy, and embraces the opportunities of the future."
I believe that when human relations are fostered through open communication, trust, kindness, and a spirit of "gracious professionalism," marvelous ideas can become electrifying community building experiences that bless the lives of many for

26. What would you hope to accomplish in the role of a Human Relations Commissioner? (250 words or less) As a member of the Human Relations Committee, I would enjoy working alongside others to promote a spirit of community goodwill, a sense of belonging, and an increase in resident participation in our City's economy, social activities, and government.
3 What a wonderful experience it would be to continue to build a culture of creativity, trust, and open/respectful communication among residents, businesses, agencies, schools, and organizations within our community.

What marvelous community building experiences we could orchestrate by inviting, encouraging, and assisting community members to use their own creativity and skill sets in designing experiences to celebrate and give expression to the diversity, talents, and skills of our community members.

I would consider it a great honor to serve as a Human Relations Commissioner to rejoice in the goodness of our residents, to foster a spirit of goodwill, and to continue making Chula Vista a great place to live.
