Leticia
Good afternoon mayor. City Council members,
My name is Leticia, and I am here to talk about Harborside Park. Harborside is a park located in Southwest Chula Vista and it’s a park that has been open in my community since April 2006. Since Harborside Park’s opening, our community has enjoyed the park for 14 years, In 2020 that was when the pandemic and mandates reached the world.
It was then that my park, due to the lockdowns, served as a refuge for the homeless community because it was the perfect open space to do so.
The park was destroy, but thanks to Mayor McCann who listened to us, back in May the park was to reopen but the unbelievable happened, the city council members opposed it. Our Councill member of District 4 Andrea Cardenas made the motion to declare our park a surplus land. And the park is getting ready to be sold to developers.
Our community since then has been attending these meetings to implore the council members to give us their vote in favor of Harborside Park. PLEASE, we need only two more votes, and I am here to ask you again to reconsider your decision.
In the meantime, we will continue having a march/walk in favor of our park and the next one will be on November 4 at 8:30am-10:00am The stating point is Lauderback Park 333 Oxford, and we will walk down to our Harborside park.
ONLY @ VOTES are needed to keep it open. Email/Call your Council member. Look for us on Instagram as @SaveHarborsidePark Facebook @WestChulaVista Thanks!

I am requesting that you light up the City Hall building in blue and white as a commemorative tribute to the October 7th victims of the genocide attack on civilians in Israel. It's unthinkable that the slaughter of Jews is happening again 80 years after the Holocaust. To deny the innocent victims of the carnage a requiem display of support is antithetical to the values your city purports to hold.
Please light up the building as a show of support (as you frequently do for so many other causes.)
Thank you.
The public may address the Council on any matter within the jurisdiction of the Council but not on the agenda.
