Please reopen Harborside Park! The community needs a safe place to enjoy some outdoor activities. The minute the park reopens, it will be full a joy and laughter. Please reopen Harborside Park! Concerned Resident
At the November 28 City Council meeting, City Council waived $603,848 in the Western Park Acquisition and Development Fee Fund for a proposed project (Report Number: 23-0296). These funds could have been used to support park development projects in western Chula Vista. Prior City Council's approved this as a park and the current City Manager and Assistant City Manager were employed by the City when the decision was made to build Harborside Park.
As everyone already knows, Southwestern Chula Vista is a park deficient community. I ask that the leadership of Chula Vista make the right decision and allow the community to decide on the fate of the park and not special interests. If the decision is made to build affordable housing, the land should be sold to the higher bidder and return the funds to the respective accounts that were set aside for park development.
The City has vacant land to build a few parks as identified in the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
JEROME O. TORRES
While serving on the now dissolved Growth Management Oversight Committee (GMOC), we provided annual reports to the City Council in a joint meeting with the Planning Commission which, among other things, highlighted the lack of park space in West Chula Vista. This has been a historical inequity which has afflicted residents who live in West Chula Vista. I respectfully ask the City Council to not compound this inequity by now designating the park space as Surplus Land for the purpose of future housing development.
Yovanna camacho
I oppose the closure of Harborside Park for building purposes. Our children need a safe green space to play and be kids. Why are our city leaders 'ok' with removing such areas when there are other abandoned buildings that can be re-classified and put to good use instead of it being an eye sore in our community? robert johnson
the detail give no information on what is being discussed. robert johnson
WE WANT OPEN SPACES NOT A BUILDING CLOSED MOST OF THE TIME. robert johnson
YOUR P{LAN IS TO COVER THE PARK WITH A BUILDING.. OPEN THE PARK.. WE NEVER ASKED FOR THIS.. OPEN THE PARK.. YALL ARE JUST DOING THIS TO PUNISHISH KIDS.. YOU ShOULD QUIT... YOUR FIRED. AZZHOLES Leticia Lares
I oppose the building of GOVERNMENT HOUSING in our Harborside Park. Harborside Park is the only Park in the community of Harborside with a flat surface. A surface that is strongly needed to be an inclusive green area for the families of Southwest Chula Vista. and the surrounding areas. I am proposing that this park be reopened with the proposed FIRST phase and be dedicated to the elderly and the exceptional children of Chula Vista. We have many exceptional children in District 4 who suffer from not having a safe place to go and spend their lives indoors. This is a call for JUSTICE for ALL the Harborside community children, especially the children with physical disabilities. Southwest Chula Vista is a FAMILIES city, always welcoming people from all social statuses and a diverse community. I am requesting the city councils to support Mayor McCann reconsider your selfish position and give your vote in favor of Harborside Park's first phase. #LeticiaInChulaVista #SaveHarborsideParkMovement #WestChulaVista #SouthwestChulaVista Development Services Director Black gave a presentation on the item.
