RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING BIDS, AWARDING A
CONTRACT FOR THE “PAVEMENT MAJOR
REHABILITATION FY 2021-22 (STM0408)” PROJECT TO ATP
GENERAL ENGINEERING CONTRACTORS, AND
APPROPRIATING FUNDS FROM THE AVAILABLE
TRANSNET FUND TO CIP STM0408
WHEREAS, on April 24, 2024, the Department of Engineering and Capital Projects solicited bids for the “Pavement Major Rehabilitation FY 2021-22 (STM0408)” project (“Project”) in accordance with Chula Vista Municipal Code section 2.56.160(A); and
WHEREAS, on May 15, 2024, the Director of Engineering and Capital Projects received six (6) sealed bids for the Project; and
WHEREAS, the low bid for the Project was submitted by ATP General Engineering Contractors in the amount of $2,950,987.90, which is higher than the Engineer’s estimate of $2,949,493.72 by $1,495.18 (or approximately 0.1%); and
WHEREAS, staff has determined that the bid submitted by ATP General Engineering Contractors is responsive to the bid specifications and requirements, and that ATP General Engineering Contractors is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends awarding the public works contract for the Project to ATP General Engineering Contractors in the amount of $2,950,987.90; and
WHEREAS, due to increased bid prices, CIP STM0408 requires supplemental funding; and
WHEREAS, staff recommends appropriating $350,000 from the TransNet Fund to CIP STM0408.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, that it:
1. Accepts bids for the “Pavement Major Rehabilitation FY 2021-22 (STM0408)” project.
2. Awards the public works contract for the “Pavement Major Rehabilitation FY 2021-22 (STM0408)” project to ATP General Engineering Co ntractors in the amount of $2,950,987.90.
3. Appropriates $350,000 from the available balance of the TransNet Fund to CIP STM0408.
