RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA ACCEPTING THE 2023/2024 GRAND JURY
REPORT ON RETIRED SENIOR VOLUNTEER PATROL
PROGRAMS AT SAN DIEGO LAW ENFORCEMENT
AGENCIES AND AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE TO
SUBMIT THE RESPONSE ON BEHALF OF THE CITY
WHEREAS, on May 29, 2024, the Grand Jury filed a report entitled , “Grand Jury Report – Retired Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP) at San Diego Law Enforcement Agencies” with the Clerk of the Court (Grand Jury Report); and
WHEREAS, the Grand Jury Report contained five findings and made three recommendations to the Chula Vista Police Department; and
WHEREAS, under state law, the City of Chula Vista must respond within 90 days to the findings and recommendations in the Grand Jury report; and
WHEREAS, City staff has carefully reviewed the Grand Jury Report and prepared a response to the Honorable Maureen F. Hallahan, Presiding Judge of the San Diego Superior Court, as required, addressing the findings and recommendations listed in the Grand Jury Report; and
WHEREAS, it is requested that the Mayor and City Council accept the Grand Jury report and authorize the Chief of Police to submit the letter as a completed response from the City of Chula Vista.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, that it accepts the 2023/2024 Grand Jury report on Retired Senior Volunteer Programs (RSVP) at San Diego Law Enforcement Agencies and authorizes the Chief of Police to submit the response on behalf of the City.
