DISCUSSION
On July 12, 2022, the City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Chula Vista and Local 2180, International Association of Fire Fighters (“Local 2180”) related to wages and other terms and conditions of employment. After meeting and conferring in good faith pursuant to the Meyers Milias - Brown Act ("MMBA"), the City and Local 218 0 desire to enter into a Third Amendment to the 2022 -2024 MOU amending Appendix B - Measure A, as it relates to staffing 24-hour SQUADs. Six full-time equivalent positions (6.00 FTE) were added via Measure A as part of the FY 2024-25 budget allowing for a 2 4-hour SQUAD to be staffed with permanent FTE rather than via overtime. This amendment to the MOU would maintain Peak Volume SQUADs as overtime assignments and add 24-hour SQUADs to be filled with full time employees as part of a traditional fire departmen t schedule. SQUADs will be staffed and deployed as determined by the Fire Chief.

The IAFF membership is slated to complete their vote on the third amendment to the 2022-2024 IAFF MOU as it relates to staffing of 24-hour SQUADs by 12:00 p.m., on August 6, 2024.

Approval of the r esolution will approve the Third Amendment to the 20 22-2024 Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Chula Vista and Local 2180.
