of Christmas in October .
◦ Any size and any content (green, trash, concrete & dirt.
Republic responds to the site needs every October , year after year, with a smile, without question & without fail.
Special recognition to long-term service provider:
◦ We gladly accept the challenge Emerald has laid before us ◦ This is a worthwhile cause which is great for the City and improves the overall culture ◦ After the 2012 Chrislock home we realized the need to involve the youth of the community and in 2013 started recruiting high school students who needed community service hours. ◦ 2017 engaged the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers SDSU Chapter ◦ 2019 we suffered the loss of our leader , Emerald. 2020 & 2021 reflect, regroup, & Covid19 ◦ 2022 Christmas in October was reborn. Clint Schepe - Chair (CVFD) with the help of Steve Erickson – Co-Chair (Collins Aerospace), Jeff Pace (CVPD) & Gary Bryant (CV Noon Rotary). ◦ 2023 the team adopted a new approach to collaboratively combine the groups for a larger sense of community .
Not only are we finding this more fulfilling. But it also eases the challenge of obtaining & utilizing the diverse skillsets. We feel this collaboration builds trust in the community as well as with the youth. To work along side police, fire fighters, professionals, engineers, community members and the Mayor is invaluable to the young volunteers and to the future of the program.
◦ 2024 saw the addition of two new board members: Heather Travis & Steve Cox from Collins Clint
