RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CHULA VISTA APPROVING A REIMBURSEMENT
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND OTAY WATER
DISTRICT FOR INSTALLATION OF WATER LINE
FACILITIES FOR THE HERITAGE ROAD BRIDGE
REPLACEMENT (STM0386) PROJECT; AND APPROVING A
REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY AND
SAN DIEGO GAS & ELECTRIC FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
GAS FACILITIES FOR THE HERITAGE ROAD BRIDGE
REPLACEMENT (STM0386) PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Heritage Road Bridge Replacement (STM0386) project intends to construct a replacement bridge across the Otay River on Heritage Road (“Project”) ; and
WHEREAS, Otay Water District (“OWD”) and the San Diego Gas & Electric (“SDG&E”) Gas Division propose franchise utility improvements through the future bridge within Project limits; and
WHEREAS, Delays from utility work can then adversely affect the City’s selected contractor and the City’s ultimate Project schedule; and
WHEREAS, To avoid such challenges, OWD and SDG&E propose agreements with the City for work to be performed by the City’s selected contractor funded by a City held deposit account; and
WHEREAS, OWD and SDG&E each agree to deposit funds totalling 100% of cost to construct respective improvements plus 5% contingency; and
WHEREAS, Staff recommends adopting agreements with OWD and SDG&E for costs relating to installing utility improvements within the project limits; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista, that it:
A. Approves a reimbursement agreement between the City and Otay Water District for installation of water line facilities for the Heritage Road Bridge Replacement (STM0386) project, in the form presented, with such minor modifications as may be required by the City Attorney, a copy of which shall be kept on file in the Office of the City Clerk, and authorizes and directs the Mayor to execute same.
B. Approves a reimbursement agreement between the City and San Diego Gas & Electric for installation of Gas Pipeline Supports for the Heritage Road Bridge Replacement (STM0386) project, in the form presented, with such minor modifications as may be required by the City Attorney, a copy of which shall be kept on file in the Office of the City Clerk, and authorizes and directs the Mayor to execute same.
