Departments > Information and Technology Services for traffic volume maps References https://www.sandag.org/regional-plan/2025-regional-plan' style='font-weight: normal; width:100%;' >Hello fellow Chula Vista residents ~

Let's talk about public transit as a service! As the second-largest city in San Diego County, let's have a connected city like one.

The City of Chula Vista recognizes single-occupant motorists are a leading factor to congested freeways. The existing public transportation is not reliable, expansive, or frequent to encourage ridership. No one likes to be stranded.

SANDAG is gathering community input until October 13 2025 for the 2025 Regional Plan that will create the basis for San Diego County public transportation until 2050.

I understand a trolley rail line connecting West Chula Vista and East Chula Vista will probably not happen, based on costs, optics, time, feasibility, land use, what have you. Chula Vistans of all ages and driving license status should be able to safely get around our communities.

More MTS routes and less than $5 fare may be the competitive edge public transit needs to outweigh +$2000 personal e-bike at Costco.

A new state-of-the-art library and expectation of a 4-year university, on top of the community college, elite training center, car shows, city festivals, attractions etc. There's a lot to see that could benefit from a safe connected travel network.

What is the status of the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion project? Was this all just performative and nothing comes of it? So money was wasted… Staff was anticipating some level of changes given the current toxic culture and management style. What are the future tools available to improve in these areas? Twenty-one minutes are scheduled for the public to address the City Council for three minutes each on any matter within the jurisdiction of the City Council that is not on the agenda. The remaining speakers, if any, will be heard during the continued Public Comment period.

Hopefully the new Development Services Director doesn’t support stuff the former one did— a racist zoning provision, known as Footnote 7, that allowed for more dense housing in southeastern San Diego.

Alex Choi
If we had a qualified City Manager, we wouldn't need three new Directors.

Also, why is this a closed session item and no resumes are attached for the public to view. Lack of transparency here.
