As a concerned Chula Vista resident and federal employee with 15 years of public service experience l am applying to serve because I believe every individual deserves dignity and a path toward stable housing. I also believe in balance and that our community needs an approach to housing that demonstrates compassion and accounts for public safety. Through my roles in peer support, casework, and community outreach, I've helped people navigate crisis, trauma, and resource barriers. As a Rotary Peace Fellow, union steward, and international educator, l've led initiatives to address community challenges while working within complex situations and regulations. I've seen firsthand how rules and red tape can sometimes unintentionally harm those trying to get a solution. I believe coordinated, community-driven solutions can break cycles of difficulty for those seeking relief.
If selected I will use my cross-sector experience to support strategies that prevent mass displacement, connect vulnerable residents to resources, and ensure accountability to meet public safety expectations. I also want to support a reduction of opportunities for crime or exploitation within unhoused populations while tackling the root causes that push people into homelessness in the first place.
I'm committed to solutions that are dignified while also respecting the rule of law and to protect our neighborhoods. With the right resources, partnerships, and political will, Chula Vista can lead the way in responsible and effective homelessness response and general population housing support.
