Dear City Council Members and City Staff,
I am submitting a formal public comment to urge the City of Chula Vista to immediately begin publishing Sales Tax Revenue data broken down by City Council District.
Currently, this critical economic data is not publicly available.
Providing district-level sales tax revenue is necessary for:
1. Accountability & Transparency: Allowing residents to accurately assess and monitor the economic activity and performance of their local area.
2. Informed Investment: Ensuring that taxpayer-funded infrastructure and service investments are made efficiently and responsibly based on the actual contribution and economic health of each district.
I request that the City Council direct staff to implement this new transparency measure as a routine, ongoing report. This is essential for good financial stewardship.
Thank you for prioritizing this essential information for your constituents.
Sincerely,
David Garcia Ozua, PhD
Development Economist
