I support this resolution to protect the safety of our community members.

Penny M.

I support any entity that affirms the commitment to individuals rights as written in our constitution. I am appalled at the liberties being taken away from any person residing in the USA.

Alicia
BTW Dolores -- we aren't opposing law enforcement. We (I) am against setting ICE to berate, harrass, unlawfully detain those of color, and KILL innocent people who have a right to be in our country.

When a masked and heavily armed and unasked for and unneeded secret police starts arresting, disappearing and jailing innocent citizens we need community leaders to oppose this lawlessness in every way possible.

Cesar is outnumbered here by the troll crowd but I think his measure reflects what the majority of chula vistan’s feel, whether dem or republican… our community should not have masked LE circumventing due process and habeas corpus. Being Brown shouldn’t be a crime or suspicion. “All men are created equal…”. Remember those words? Anybody? Eddie C
We can not continue to allow the current administration to run helter skelter with no boundaries against its people and their rights. No warrants or accountability is their protocol.. Enough is enough!!!! Follow THE Constitution!!! Abram garcia
I support the resolution whole heartedly, simply because it is the right thing to do, period.! Do the right thing! Margarita
I support the resolution.

Moore-Flagg Maria
I support the resolution. I believe we must voice our disapproval of the way this Administration has allowed ICE to use excessive force. History has taught us the deadly consequences of such actions, we must be vigilant in supporting the pathways to citizenship and individual rights.

Maggie
I support taking a stand against inhumane treatment of residents.

Beatrice Fernandez
I support the resolution. As American citizens, we need to voice our anger and disapproval at the way that this Administration has allowed ICE to use excessive force, many times without federal warrants to beat, kidnap, torture or kill undocumented individuals, those with proper immigration papers or in the process of following a legal pathway to citizenship, and even American citizens. Their tactics have gone too far.

Audra M.

I OPPOSE THIS RESOLUTION, THAT HARMS PUBLIC TRUST.

Kris Brown
I strongly support this resolution reaffirming Chula Vista’s commitment to due process. This action makes clear that true public safety is built on trust, transparency, and constitutional values, not by fear or intimidation. Thank you for standing up for the dignity and safety of residents in the South Bay.

I live in St. Paul, MN and want to communicate how much it means to us here to have the support of other states outside of MN. It is hard to describe how it feels living under this occupation. Having the support of other communities helps keep our spirits up to continue our efforts to support our vulnerable neighbors who are living in fear 24/7. I pray that this does not happen to any other city, so no one else has to experience this and watch families being torn apart.

Dan
We support Ice in MN. Just glad we can see comments representing our views of our state. Not sure why democrats in California have to use my state.

James
Didn't you democrats walk out when the Mayor spoke on Kirk? all violence? Daniel Dumile
Shame on those who are so quick to excuse these violations.

I support this because my child is half Mexican, and he and his friends are well aware that if this comes to the South Bay our families and neighbors are in danger of the worst of the worst.

So terrible our children have to even think of this.

Thank you for your courage, council.

I appreciate the Chula Visa City Council taking this action. As a MN resident in the Twin Cities metro area, it is hard to describe the brutality and terror federal agents are inflicting on our community.

US Citizens, permanent residents, asylum seekers and undocumented community members have suffered unlawfulj violations of the first, fourth, and eighth amendment.

What gives me hope is the solidarity with which our community has come together to protect our neighbors and the outpouring of support we've received from other communities around the country and world.

J. Fester
I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota and on behalf of my community I would like to express my profound gratitude to the city of Chula Vista for this proposal. Since the launch of Operation Metro Surge in December, the people of Minnesota have seen their communities thrown into chaos due to the actions of federal law enforcement. Businesses have seen employees taken, schools have lost as many as 30% of their students who now opt to work remotely for fear of being taken on the way to class, and our local law enforcement are being stretched thin by calls from people concerned over the presence of unmarked vehicles prowling our neighborhoods. Despite what the administration says, they have not just gone after violent offenders, they target hard working and law-abiding members of our community, including legal citizens, and the lack of restraint shown by federal law enforcement puts everyone in danger. As you can imagine this is a lot to deal with on the daily, but what has helped all of us endure is the solidarity we see from communities like yours and from residents of those communities who know that as a nation, we should do better. I have seen people moved to tears when marches and demonstrations outside my state profess their support and love for Minnesota and its people. It matters, it makes life easier, and pushes us to continue to stand up to this unjust treatment. Whether we are on the front line of the demonstrations against ICE, serving as legal observers in our neighborhood Lucy Ugarte
In a city and community that is predominantly people of color--the majority Latinx, our citizens should not be afraid to leave their homes for fear of not only being detained, but being illegally brutalized. As a private citizen and community member, I fully support this resolution.

Luke from MN
This resolution has been sent to those of us in Minnesota. It is incredibly moving to hear about and see the support from our fellow Americans from across the nation. For those who are not living in this occupation, it's difficult to describe the impact it has made on our families, neighbors, and businesses. We move around each day constantly looking around the corner for ICE agents. The fear and terror is real and we genuinely hope no other city has to experience it. Whatever your politic is, I hope you can see the human impact of these actions from our Federal leaders and agencies. Thank you, to the city of Chula Vista, for the support and for doing the right thing.

Melissa Peterman
As a resident of Chula Vista, I strongly support the adoption of the proposed resolution affirming the City’s commitment to protecting individual rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and directing the City Manager to sign on to the Welcoming America Draw the Line Campaign. By affirming these principles, the City sends an unequivocal message that the dignity, safety, and constitutional rights of all people who live here, regardless of immigration status, are fundamental to who we are as a community.

I also support the component of the resolution that condemns recent immigration enforcement activities of the Department of Homeland Security, particularly the use of federal law enforcement tactics in Minnesota that have resulted in fatal shootings of U.S. citizens by Border Patrol and ICE agents.

These incidents have raised serious concerns about due process, appropriate use of force, and respect for constitutional protections. A city resolution acknowledging these concerns and expressing a commitment to constitutional rights is both timely and valuable.

Moreover, I support waiving City Council Policy 102-01 regarding flag display and directing that the City’s flags be flown at half-staff through February 17, 2026. This gesture reflects respect for human life and recognition of the grief and urgency felt by many communities across the country in response to these tragic events.

Dolores
It is of great concern that our city is taking up the cause of opposing law enforcement. It should not even be a topic if not for city council making it a topic in alignment with the welcoming America project which if you do your homework is a pro mass immigration program with the ultimate goal to bankrupt America and her legal rightful citizens. I expect higher standards from our city council and that we insist on following the law and supposing both legal immigration and deportation of those that break that law and are illegally in our country and especially our city. Do your job and stop playing partisan games with the lives of our citizens.

Greg Martinez
I oppose the resolution and the hypocrisy from the same corrupt councilmembers who walked out on the brief memorial for Charlie Kirk when flags were properly at half mast at city hall.

Greg Martinez
We didn’t elect local officials to pick fights with the federal government or turn violent encounters into political theater. These protesters weren’t innocent bystanders—they provoked police, and the facts matter. I stand with law enforcement, not corrupt politicians rushing to create martyrs for clicks.

Do your job—or step aside for someone who will.

A previously deported criminal illegal alien with TWO DUI charges killed a 61-year-old North Carolina man.

The system FAILED him time and time again. The Trump Administration is working to FIX this.

IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. This is our WHY.

Caesar gains power now—this is his moment to ignite a conflict with Trump. Just be more honest and tell ICE, HSI, and CBP: Thanks for funding CVPD, and we'll keep supporting you in crowd control. Simply call us when the residents start causing trouble.

ED
Let's keep it real: Express gratitude to ICE, HSI, and CBP for their financial support to CVPD. We'll keep backing you up on crowd management—give us a shout if locals kick off any trouble. But then you have CVPD hauling them in just for performing their duties.
