SUBJECT: Agenda Item 8.2 - Lease Agreement: Approve a Lease Agreement with the Board of Trustees of the California State University Acting on Behalf of San Diego State University for a portion of the City-Owned Building Located at 1775 Millenia Avenue - SHARP SUPPORT Dear Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers,
Sharp HealthCare (Sharp) is proud to support Item 8.2, the proposed lease agreement between the City of Chula Vista and the Board of Trustees of the California State University, which would bring San Diego State University's School of Nursing to the newly built Millenia Library.

This designation reflects our commitment to quality outcomes, professional nursing practice, and a supportive work environment. Magnet hospitals are expected to promote professional development and support nurses in achieving BSN and graduate-level education.
As California faces a growing health care workforce crisis driven in part by accelerating nurse retirementsSharp is encouraged by this innovative partnership between the City and CSU. In combination with Sharp's existing nursing education and workforce development programs, this opportunity can help create a supportive, growth-focused environment where nurses build clinical expertise, strengthen confidence, and advance their careers while continuing to meet the needs of our communities.
Through affiliations with five colleges and universities, Sharp supports clinical placements, residency preparation, and ongoing education that bridge academic learning with hands-on experience. These partnerships demonstrate our commitment to workforce development, innovation, and preparing the next generation of nurses to deliver compassionate, high-quality care.
In the South Bay, partnerships like this are especially critical to preparing highly skilled nurses who go on to serve hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities throughout the region. The proposed lease agreement between the City and CSU will meaningfully advance nursing education and help build a sustainable health care workforce capable of delivering exceptional patient care.
