RESOLUTION OF THE TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA RECOMMENDING THAT
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA
AMEND CITY COUNCIL POLICY NO. 576-16
INSTALLATION OF PEDESTRIANCROSSWALKS”
WHEREAS, on April 25, 1978, the City Council adoptedResolutionNo. 9086 that establishedCity Council Policy No. 576-16 “Installationof PedestrianCrosswalks” (“Policy”); and
WHEREAS, the new federaland City standardshavebeenadoptedand new pedestrian crossingtreatmentshavebeendevelopedsubsequentto the Policy that reflectevolving priorities sincetheinitial adoptionof thePolicy; and
WHEREAS, ChulaVista’s populationhasmorethantripled sinceadoptionof thePolicy andits roadwaynetworkhasgrowncorrespondingly; and
WHEREAS, as part of its routine operational activities, Traffic Engineering staff determinedthat an amendmentto the Policy to reflect current transportationpriorities, technologies, andstandardswould be appropriateto inform future evaluationsandprocuredthe servicesof a consultantto preparesaidamendedPolicy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDthattheTraffic SafetyCommissionof theCity of Chula Vista doesherebyrecommendthat the City Council amendthe Policy in accordance with staff’s recommendation.
ACTION by theTraffic SafetyCommissionof theCity of ChulaVista, California, this 8thdayof January2026, by thefollowing vote:
