BOARD/COMMISSION/COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION
Not applicable.

DISCUSSION
Southern Regional Resource Center, Inc. dba Southern Caregivers Resource Center ( “SCRC”) is a non-profit company that provides free caregiver support services for families caring for seniors and adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and adults with chronic and disabling conditions or diseases which is a public benefit to the City and the region SCRC is funded by grants from the California State Department of Aging, County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, Aging and Independence Services, Behavioral Health Services, private foundations, and donations from individuals and corporations.

With the passing of Proposition 1, SCRC’s contract with San Diego County Behavioral Health Services terminated the Caregiver Support Services contract, effective June 30, 2026. As a result, SCRC’s funds to lease office space at Norman Park Senior Center were terminated. Because SCRC provides a public benefit, the City will provide up to six (6) months of rent deferral during the initial term of the lease to allow SCRC time to secure replacement funding. The initial lease agreement is for one (1) year with four (4), one (1) year renewal periods. The monthly rent for the initial term is $842.00. The rent will increase by 3% annually for each renewal period. Upon receipt of funding, SCRC will pay any deferred rent and rent for the remaining term of the initial lease term. If funding is not obtained prior to the expiration of the six (6) month deferral period, City and SCRC will meet to discuss an extension of the deferral period.

SCRC has occupied space at the Norman Park Senior Center located at 270 F Street for approximately 20 years and has invested approximately $12,000 over that period for permanently affixed improvements to the space which include flooring, painting and baseboards.
