RESOLUTION OF THE TRAFFIC SAFETY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF CHULA VISTA RECOMMENDING THAT THE CHULA
VISTA CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISH 1-HOUR TIME-LIMITED
PARKING ALONG THE WEST AND EAST SIDES OF METRO
AVENUE FROM STYLUS STREETTO OPTIMA STREETAND TO
ACCORDINGLY AMEND SCHEDULE VI OF THE REGISTER
MAINTAINED IN THE OFFICEOFTHE CITY ENGINEER
WHEREAS, thewestandeastsidesof Metro Avenuefrom StylusStreetto OptimaStreet SubjectParkingArea”) is providing91diagonalparkingspaceswith notime limitations; and WHEREAS, businessownersfronting the SubjectParkingArea are requestingthat the City of ChulaVista City Council establisha 1-hour time limit for parkingin theSubjectParking Area; and
WHEREAS, establishinga 1-hourtime limit on parkingfrom 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM would benefittheexistingbusinessesalongMetro Avenue; and
WHEREAS, staff hasevaluatedthecurrentparkingconditionsat theSubjectParkingArea with no time limit restrictionsandhaveconcludedthata changeto thecurrentparkingregulations is recommended;
WHEREAS, as a result of its evaluation, staff recommendsthat current parking regulationsat the SubjectParkingAreaberevisedto establish1-hour time limited parkingalong thewestandeastsidesof MetroAvenuefrom StylusStreetto OptimaStreet; and WHEREAS, in accordancewith the Millenia Parking ManagementPlan, approvedon April 24, 2017, the Millenia MasterDeveloperand subsequently, the Millenia ParkingDistrict Councilhasauthoritywith respectto parkingregulationsin theMillenia ParkingDistrict.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVEDthattheTraffic SafetyCommissionof theCity of ChulaVista doesherebyrecommendthat the ChulaVista City Council establish1-hour time limited parking along the west and eastsidesof Metro Avenuefrom Stylus Streetto Optima Streetfrom 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM pendingapprovalby the Millenia ParkingDistrict Council or designee, andthatthe City Traffic Engineerbe delegatedthe authorityto modify the durationof the time limitation if subsequentobservationsindicate that such modification would be appropriate. Also, pertheCity of ChulaVista Municipal CodeSection10.52.330, uponapproval of the proposedtime limited parkingby City Council, ScheduleVI of the registermaintainedin theoffice of theCity Engineerwouldberevisedto includethefollowing:
