2. SUBJECT: Purchase Agreement for 7555 and 7569 Old Auburn Road, APNs 211-0051-019-0000 and 211-0051-020-0000
STAFF REPORT: A. Feeney
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt Resolution No. 2024-078, A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Citrus Heights, California, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute a Purchase Agreement and Joint Escrow Instructions with Stoney Investments LLC for the Acquisition of 7555 and 7569 Old Auburn Road, Citrus Heights, CA 95610, APNs 211-0051-019-0000 and 211-0051-020-0000 City Manager Feeney stated this item would authorize the City Manager to enter into a purchase agreement to acquire 7555 and 7569 Old Auburn Road, formerly a preschool that recently closed. He stated the site has two existing buildings on two parcels that total about 1.74 acres and public facilities are a permitted use in the Zone. He explained the acquisition provides a strategic opportunity as staff reviews options related to the Council's strategic objective to look at the feasibility of increased local sheltering and reunification of lost pets.

He noted that the costs for animal sheltering is increasing and the City is seeing over 100% increase in the contract for sheltering services. The acquisition price would be $1,200,000 with an escrow period envisioned to be 130 days from a purchase agreement execution.

City Council comments followed.
