1/14/2022 5:35 PM
104 community equity - housing, transportation, access to schools. 1/14/2022 5:30 PM 105 Pass legislation to limit building north of baseline; offer after-school programs in southern Claremont as well as feeding programs
1/14/2022 5:29 PM
106 Increase the frequency of landscape maintenance and sidewalk cleaning (high pressure steam) throughout the downtown area. Take a walk around our downtown solely to view the state of the landscape maintenance and general cleanliness, including the parking structures. Then, make a visit to Pasadena and see the difference. Pasadena has much more pedestrian pressure and volume, and yet if you walk down their streets and alleys, they are generally spotless. Our downtown can often look a bit seedy.
1/14/2022 5:27 PM
107 Maximize the programs and benefits that the many non-profit organizations in the City. Utilize their collective capacity to improvement community life. 1/14/2022 5:26 PM
108 Active dialog between the City administration, businesses and residents. And we really do need a new or rebuilt police station. Under no circumstances should the police job ever be transfered to LA County.
1/14/2022 5:18 PM
109 More biodiversity and indigenous plants 1/14/2022 5:12 PM 110 More bicyling opportunities in the village and surroundings. A stop light or at least a stop sign at the intersection of Butte and Mountain. It is the most dangerous point on the morning school trip from west to east in Claremont.

114 I’ll use this space to express my frustration with the cities ban on walking dogs (on leash!) along the paths in our city parks. I was stopped by a policeman for walking my small elderly dog in the park. When I asked him where I was allowed to walk my dog he said the ‘dog park’ ( the muddy fenced patch of grass below 1st St. or Wilderness Park. Neither of those are suitable for us. As a tax payer with no kids in the schools the least I expect is to be able to walk my dog without police intervention. I left the park that day angry and headed to a beautiful park in La Verne where we were not only welcome but had access to dog waste stations with poop bags, trash cans, etc.

115 Help businesses stay economically viable (especially restaurants) that may be hurting because of the pandemic. Keep Village rents affordable for our independent business owners so the ones we love and care about don't end up getting priced out and have to move, and so new one-of-a-kind businesses (not chains) are attracted to open and contribute to the creative originality of the community.
1/14/2022 4:58 PM
116 Differences of opinion and a space where conversations can be had that don't exactly agree with one another.
1/14/2022 4:54 PM
117 Safety and economic needs of residents 1/14/2022 4:51 PM 118 Increased cultural events, perhaps in conjunction with the Claremont Colleges. Claremont already excels in this, but it has been hurt by the current pandemic. 1/14/2022 4:47 PM
119 Make better use of parks and other public spaces. 1/14/2022 4:46 PM 120 The Village South development, to keep moving forward for everybody in sustainable ways. 1/14/2022 4:45 PM 121 Outdoor entertainment and live music. We need to keep our little movie theater in the village.
The village expansion needs to be done already. The large empty lot on first Street is a tragedy that it has sat empty all these years. Somebody must’ve dropped the ball on that. 1/14/2022 4:43 PM
122 Renewed interest in DEI issues; vibrant senior population. 1/14/2022 4:42 PM 123 People are attracted to beautiful settings. I hope that the Vortox project and the South Village will carry on the unique traditions of Claremont.

129 Social gatherings? Butdo to circumstances that can happen right now. 1/14/2022 4:30 PM 130 Further community service engagement opportunities for students from the colleges, etc. so that the colleges can engage better and more productively/helpfully with the city! 1/14/2022 4:27 PM
131 Deal with the unhoused issue 1/14/2022 4:25 PM
132 Partnerships with neighboring communities to broaden the messages and your leadership 1/14/2022 4:24 PM 133 Ensure that LaPuerta property remains as a park. If it needs to be housing, ensure that housing matches the neighborhood and is not overly dense 1/14/2022 4:23 PM
134 I believe that the above priorities are related to the strengths our community already has. I certainly feel much safer biking in Claremont in Upland, for example, and this is due to the presence of infrastructure like bike paths and bike lanes. I love being able to walk around the village and visit local businesses.
1/14/2022 4:22 PM
135 Village South development 1/14/2022 4:21 PM
136 The pandemic has shown us that some of the things we’ve always done are no longer worth doing or could be done better. This strange time is giving the people of Claremont a chance to reimagine our community as a kinder, more diverse, welcoming and healthy place. That includes how we police, where we do or don’t build new developments and how we support and engage families with young kids and our community’s teens. 1/14/2022 4:21 PM
137 Keep and expand our outdoor dining options! 1/14/2022 4:06 PM 138 Address the unhoused/homeless crisis 1/14/2022 4:05 PM 139 Better regional public transportation. Claremont is party of an extended community including the huge range of fantastic attractions in Los Angeles, but transportation links are very limited. 1/14/2022 3:56 PM
140 Don't know. 1/14/2022 3:54 PM
141 Expanding walkability and bike safety. The village would benefit from some closed streets (just a block or two each on Yale and Harvard) to increase the sense of community and expand outdoor dining/cultural resources.
1/14/2022 3:53 PM
142 I'm going to use this as an opportunity to comment on the survey itself. There are far too many terms in the "choose one of five" that might mean something to the city council, but don't make sense to the average citizen. So a lot of the time I had to guess as to whether I agreed or disagreed because I didn't know what was being asked. Each question should have had an explanation, either directly or as a popup you could click on. 1/14/2022 3:52 PM
143 Affordable housing 1/14/2022 3:51 PM
144 making Claremont a cyclic hub like Cambridge is in the UK and Leiden in The Netherlands 1/14/2022 3:51 PM 145 Green public transit 1/14/2022 3:50 PM

147 Slow down residential construction and increase promotion of the arts. More music, more theater, more community wide events...once the challenges of the COVID pandemic are reduced...
1/14/2022 3:12 PM
148 More community events like live music 1/14/2022 3:04 PM 149 Continue the City's prioritization, planning efforts as spelled out in the mission statement. 1/14/2022 3:00 PM 150 Attracting a variety of small retail businesses to the Village, including Village South Maintaining a movie venue in the Village

154 The arts and community events, such as music in Memorial Park and in the Village. 1/14/2022 2:00 PM 155 More Arts- and Music get back to what made Claremont a special place to live and visit. 1/14/2022 1:52 PM 156 Embracing our diversity, making sure everyone has a voice and feels included, supported. 1/14/2022 1:47 PM 157 Consider providing broadband service as a community resource 1/14/2022 1:39 PM 158 Resident participation.f 1/14/2022 1:39 PM
159 Become a bike culture (with safe bike lanes separated from traffic) and show other cities in Southern California how it is feasible and provides for economic and environmental sustainability!!! These streets north and south should be at 35 MPH for pedestrian and bike safety (helping schools too)
1/14/2022 1:19 PM
160 A strong downtown--including keeping the Laemmle Theatre if possible, a variety of businesses, easier access such as local public transportation and more housing (including mixed-use residential and retail)
1/14/2022 1:10 PM
161 New green space and hiking trails 1/14/2022 1:03 PM 162 open meetings, inviting community response--precinct gatherings? 1/14/2022 12:56 PM 163 Turn that vacant square of land on 1st Street north of the Packing House into a complex including nice senior housing and needed grocery such as Trader Joe's or Sprouts. 1/14/2022 12:54 PM
164 Make the community more outdoor friendly. Encourage more biking and walking safely so all can enjoy the community and local businesses.
1/14/2022 12:44 PM
165 Community events at parks and in the village. Concerts, festivals, etc. both small and large. 1/14/2022 12:35 PM 166 Make use of funding available to create a sustained effective program to provide housing for all.

168 Maintain outdoor street dining for city restaurants. 1/14/2022 11:41 AM 169 Increased affordable housing will keep our community vibrant by attracting families and younger people. This can increase diversity and keep our schools healthy 1/14/2022 11:18 AM
170 Encouraging citizenry to join citywide organizations and committees. Teaching Claremont children good citizenship at our schools so they feel enfranchized to attend public meetings and have a voice.
1/14/2022 11:07 AM
171 Keep the city’s high standards in order to stand out as model for surrounding cities! 1/14/2022 11:05 AM 172 Expanded easy to participate in volunteer activities to unite us and help us help each other. 1/14/2022 10:54 AM 173 More collaboration between the Claremont Colleges and the city. 1/14/2022 10:53 AM 174 Repurposing more asphalt parking spaces for outdoor dining, tree planting, and public space. 1/14/2022 10:46 AM 175 Get the colleges to pay their fair share for being part of Claremont. 1/14/2022 10:23 AM 176 Working together on sustainability projects 1/14/2022 10:03 AM 177 Concerts and events. 1/14/2022 9:50 AM
178 Diversity. 1/14/2022 9:38 AM
179 The city could be faster in responding to problems so that these can be turned into opportunities. For example, whereas our neighboring towns were quick to implement outdoor dining early in the pandemic, we were lagging by months to a year. The city could encourage businesses that cater to the Colleges community more. These include transportation services to take students back-and-forth from their dorms to businesses, especially grocery stores, in 1/14/2022 9:26 AM
City Council Priorities Setting Process 2022 SurveyMonkey Claremont. Also, we could have more casual dining options, and even pubs, that cater to the student community and within walking distance to the colleges. Managed properly—longer open hours and more days per week—such businesses can help with city finances, make the community less a weekend-night place, and even improve safety by reducing driving. Whereas I appreciate and honor the City’s long history and traditions, it is important not to rest on our laurels which could allow neighboring towns to prosper, partly at our expense. 180 Encouraging commerce through the Village business district by allowing more freedom for businesses to run as they see fit and creating opportunities for cohesiveness rather than divisiveness by bringing back city-wide events.
1/14/2022 9:16 AM
181 Keep attracting independent small businesses in the Village. Barbara Cheatley’s closing was a big loss!
1/14/2022 8:54 AM
182 More great events in the village. Let the community come together! 1/14/2022 8:53 AM 183 Involve the community as a whole to be more sustainable, more eco-responsible, more environmentally aware.
1/14/2022 8:39 AM
184 stop development, bring back green spaces. 1/14/2022 8:34 AM 185 Keep the housing growth minimized. 1/14/2022 7:55 AM 186 it is hard during the pandemic to bring people together, but there could be some fun virtual events that attract people with 'door prizes' and raffles, in which informal discussions of ideas and issues could take place
1/14/2022 7:14 AM
187 Community involvement and recreation. 1/14/2022 6:47 AM 188 Stop trumark from purchasing the La Puerta site! 1/14/2022 6:44 AM 189 Keep open space!!!! It is so important to feel a part of nature...to see the mountains. 1/14/2022 6:39 AM 190 Festivals and fairs 1/14/2022 6:13 AM
191 Pocket parks and additional trees in areas that are frequently traveled, like along Mills Ave north of Foothill.
1/14/2022 6:05 AM
192 Leadership in addressing climate change and other issues of sustainability. 1/14/2022 5:25 AM 193 Focusing on not allowing that many houses built in La Puerta. 1/14/2022 5:21 AM 194 Stop the sale of the La Puerta property to private “developers”. Focus on a community driven plan to repurpose this valuable public natural open space for habitat restoration and recreational/educational use.
1/14/2022 4:43 AM
195 More public art 1/13/2022 10:49 PM
196 Support small businesses in the community 1/13/2022 10:32 PM 197 Accessibility issues as the community ages. 1/13/2022 10:08 PM 198 Inclusion for all. 1/13/2022 10:07 PM
199 Housing affordability 1/13/2022 9:42 PM
200 The library is a great opportunity for education The schools are a treasure and the school board members research our respect. The colleges are a great opportunity and there could be more interaction between city events an college events.
1/13/2022 9:38 PM
201 Add community gardens to parks, especially since housing will become denser. People in apartments like to grow vegetables too. Make the village a pedestrian zone and have parking garages in its periphery.
1/13/2022 9:16 PM
202 Keeping our compost in Claremont through at-home and community composting rather than the shipping it around southern California.
1/13/2022 9:07 PM
203 Update the parks and open some new facilities (splash pad perhaps). Families seek out new/clean/fun/free entertainment opportunities for their kids and we can capitalize on that when they come into town for one thing we can keep them here for lunch/shopping afterwards. 1/13/2022 9:03 PM
204 denser housing with less space dedicated to cars 1/13/2022 8:56 PM
City Council Priorities Setting Process 2022 SurveyMonkey 205 haven't lived in Claremont long enough to see an opportunity just yet 1/13/2022 8:52 PM 206 Returning to the citywide election of members to the city council, and terminating the fractured division of electing members from 5 districts. If we continue on the path of dividing the city, it will cause fractures just like we have on the national level. This will lead to a dysfunctional government in Claremont and replicate what we see on the national scene. 1/13/2022 8:46 PM
207 Hopefully Covid will end and we can again gather as a community and celebrate holidays and activities and just being neighbors

213 Modernizing the parks 1/13/2022 8:02 PM
214 Commerce and culture need to work together 50/50. Village Venture was born from a Claremont Arts Festival. VV lost it's balance towards Commerce. Try some more grass roots arts festivals featuring visual and performing artists supported by Commerce and the City with the idea of simply bringing people together not making a buck. The summer concerts in Memorial Park work well this way, still, the the music could stand to be more diverse. Think performance events, Think of having the City asking Pomona College to be invited to use the Marsten Quad?
1/13/2022 8:02 PM
215 More ethnically diverse restaurants, maybe some large art murals downtown, block parties or events to foster networks within each neighborhood

218 City events, including music, art and historic preservation. Safety on the streets. 1/13/2022 7:40 PM 219 The first thing I notice when driving into Claremont from other cities is how well maintained the streets and landscaping is. Would love to see more of that in south claremont. Our restaurants and bars are a big draw and we need it support them.

225 Increase opportunities to walk and bike as that encourages community more than driving. 1/13/2022 6:53 PM 226 Our cultural landscape and opportunities for our citizens to become involved and enlightened. 1/13/2022 6:52 PM 227 !

250 Small town influence and feeling Or modernize like other cities. But don't do both. 1/13/2022 4:44 PM 251 Safe streets, walkability 1/13/2022 4:41 PM
252 Keeping neighborhood schools even if smaller in size to keep population balanced. 1/13/2022 4:30 PM 253 The metro gold line extension and the brownfields on Indian hill south of the village offers an opportunity for high quality mixed use development that doesn’t draw car traffic. The city has a reasonable for reducing car traffic with the current metro king station and the nearby Montclair transit center. Cooperative development with the city of Montclair could provide substantial benefit to both cities.
1/13/2022 4:30 PM
254 Paid parking in the village and be open to the idea of a big box store at baseline and Monte Vista.

257 Traffic calming strategies in areas where cars speed to make the city more pedestrian friendly and finding ways to join the parts of Claremont cut off by Arrow and Towne (pedestrian bridges? Other strategies) joined more cohesively with the rest of the City. 1/13/2022 4:15 PM
258 Recruit and engage residents who do not have a history of participating. 1/13/2022 4:07 PM 259 more street music 1/13/2022 4:02 PM
260 Make it more affordable to attract a greater variety of people. Fifty years ago, before it turned into the land of mega mansions and overpriced boutiques, it was a more interesting place with a stronger sense of community. (May I add that this is much too general and vague a questionnaire to be of any use. Of course we want all of the things it asks about. At the very minimum we expect the city to be operational, fiscally responsible, safe, sustainable, etc. Why be asked to rate or choose among these? Had I known the questions I would not have wasted my time. No questions on anything specific that could actually inform policy or lead to concrete action. Makes me wonder about the real purpose of the survey. A PR ploy?) 1/13/2022 3:55 PM

265 Let's make Claremont a leading-edge city in safe cycling infrastructure! 1/13/2022 3:38 PM 266 Claremont should be a solar city. Residents must abandon polluting and greenhouse gas producing technologies.
1/13/2022 3:38 PM
267 Maintaining the charm and small town vintage feeling, especially in the Village area. 1/13/2022 3:35 PM 268 Upkeep and maintenance of existing city parks, in addition to supporting local businesses (especially in the village and vicinity).
1/13/2022 3:32 PM
269 More everyday-needs businesses in the Village and at retail hubs around the city. And better support for bicyclists. Honestly, it is often dangerous to bike here. 1/13/2022 3:30 PM
270 Keeping open spaces and not over build. 1/13/2022 3:30 PM 271 Increased integration of and reciprocity with colleges' resources 1/13/2022 3:27 PM 272 Continue investing in ways to keep the community connected and aware of the vision for the city.

I would love a City Council that would stand up and make tough decisions not just smile and speak platitudes! This community has always been vibrant on its own. Over-development will not be the answer to keeping us vibrant. "Vibrant"? A word no doubt from the paid consultants!

285 Improve communication and involvement between community and colleges. 1/13/2022 2:49 PM 286 Stopping the residential development in the open areas we have, prioritizing diversity and equity in the operation of our city. And reducing police presence in the city 1/13/2022 2:48 PM
287 Be careful with the new development - lack of parking will RUIN it for everyone. 1/13/2022 2:33 PM 288 Fun Celebrations Opportunities to interact (of course so hard with Covid!) THANK YOU FOR 1/13/2022 2:31 PM

289 Village South Expansion - hopefully with single story homes or flats (including those built into a multi-story building)
1/13/2022 2:26 PM
290 I also think that upgrades could be made to some of the aging parks, such as Lewis Park, which could help to bring our community together if revamped. 1/13/2022 1:31 PM
291 Opportunity’s I see to keep the community vibrant is fun and safe activities for family’s to do together.

Monday night concerts, Village Venture, etc. The colleges continually infuse the town with young energy, while the professors inhabit our homes and restaurants. New businesses bring interest and new faces into our sphere, while the old standbys are the glue that binds us together in this place we call home. We've already got the structure in place. It just needs to be maintained. 1/13/2022 11:29 AM
303 Keeping the CHWP as a regional gift, enhancing Claremont's self-pride & reputation for regional generosity extended to diverse demographic groups
1/13/2022 11:00 AM
304 Affordable housing. We are become a monoculture of high-income families because no one else can afford to live here. That is the opposite of vibrant. 1/13/2022 10:56 AM
305 Developing a community wide excitement about sustainability and a sense of the common good for all.

307 Promotion of the arts and our village community 1/13/2022 7:55 AM 308 Allowing A Medical cannibis shop to open in the city which will increase revenue for the city that is badly needed. Stop the paranoid attitude towards it. 1/13/2022 12:40 AM
309 Provide adequate parking in the Village and keep new construction projects small scale 1/12/2022 11:22 PM 310 Figure out ways to increase engagement of talent from the colleges. Encourage faculty and staff but also students to get involved with city issues to help solve problems - including finding grants. Try to keep the movie theater operating. 1/12/2022 10:27 PM
311 Truly integrate the voices of residents, and center the voices and experiences of residents of color
1/12/2022 9:02 PM

321 More affordable housing so a diverse community can thrive here. 1/12/2022 6:57 PM 322 Love the culture, Village Venture days and festivals like that. 1/12/2022 6:42 PM 323 I would love to see compassionate action and environmental sustainability community events.
More than just booths set up talking about it!

324 community events, open communication, and public art 1/12/2022 6:32 PM 325 A careful and and thoughtful, realistic and executable plan to manage the growth of businesses and housing, and taking strong action to prevent the rise of the things that would inhibit/prevent that plan from happening.
1/12/2022 6:31 PM
326 Save the Laemmle! 1/12/2022 6:17 PM
327 events like Friday Night Live and summer concerts in the park are great community gathering opportunities.
1/12/2022 5:59 PM
328 Stop building, water resources are becoming more and more scarce! 1/12/2022 5:16 PM 329 Better communication, access, and community education. Adequately fund all communication opportunities, including staff time to take adequate written minutes of meetings, continue Zoom access to all meetings even when they are in person, including public comment opportunity through Zoom, read aloud all submitted public comment letters; fund revamp the website so information can be found, improve online access/ease of viewing video recording of meetings, fund partnering with Courier and other vehicles of reaching all households beyond social media-- send postcards, inform through schools, faith and other community organizations, etc. , and provide educational programs for the public on topics such as all the main options and processes for affordable owner occupied and rental housing and for creative and responsible and attractive sustainability of buildings and land. 1/12/2022 5:13 PM
330 Make La Puerta a cultural heritage site and incorporate accessible access for residents with mobility challenges. The wilderness trails are not accessible to people who can’t walk on uneven surfaces. Claremont has forgotten about their population with mobility challenges. 1/12/2022 5:07 PM
331 Improve the South Indian Hill area. The area as you exit the freeway and enter Claremont should be much more attractive and safer.
1/12/2022 4:59 PM
332 Including more diverse voices in the conversation - bringing those to the table who have been historically excluded or underrepresented. Our city’s youth, older population, BIPOC residents, etc.
1/12/2022 3:49 PM
333 Involved and active citizenry. 1/12/2022 3:23 PM
334 Continued community events, housing affordability for young folks and families. 1/12/2022 2:40 PM 335 Claremont needs to continue to be in the vanguard with respect to meeting the challenges of climate change: solar initiatives, green space, composting, water conservation, and wildfire prevention.

350 Slowing the traffic speeds, making the community walkable. Valuing ALL Claremont neighborhoods. Putting a stop to succumbing to the growing intolerance of others by the North of Baseline residents. Their excessive no parking areas are exclusionary. 1/11/2022 8:56 PM
351 Three opportunities: #1 There should be a YMCA/Claremont Club type of community recreational facility in South Claremont. #2 The Knights Inn motel should be converted to residential units to serve all types of citizens (Standard buyers/Low income/ Veterans/Homeless/Disabled/Disability Village type) #3 Don't develop North Claremont with more Mansions and McMansions - develop Low income housing north of Foothill or Baseline! 1/11/2022 8:50 PM
352 Music and arts, historic preservation appreciation, strong business partners. 1/11/2022 8:43 PM 353 continue with the development of Village South. also vehicle speeds are a problem in this city. we need more enforcement of the speed limits.
1/11/2022 8:23 PM
354 Get more young people involved. 1/11/2022 7:55 PM
355 South Village Expansion 1/11/2022 7:36 PM
356 a public visible ongoing commitment to racial justice in word and deed. 1/11/2022 7:14 PM 357 Fiscal responsibility, strong police force and general maintenance of trees, streets, infrastructure.
1/11/2022 5:02 PM
358 Less regulation 1/11/2022 4:45 PM
359 Keeping sidewalk seating in Village post-pandemic; perhaps closing the whole old village area to cars.
1/11/2022 4:44 PM
360 Keeping the city clean and cared for; i.e., parks, sidewalks and roads. 1/11/2022 4:23 PM 361 getting in front of any coming problem - communication via video clip weekly- short clips to address upcoming items
1/11/2022 4:01 PM
362 The Claremont Colleges and our beautiful city are attractive. The lightrail will be a nice addition if we can get it but Claremont should not be the end of the line. It would be best to continue the service to at least Montclair. All the way to the Ontario Airport would be a big plus. Thank you! 1/11/2022 3:56 PM
363 Quit bringing in hairdressers, massage and restaurant businesses as there are plenty. We recently lost Barbara Cheatley and Linda Lloyd. I hope that we do not end up with shops that cater to only the college population.
1/11/2022 3:39 PM
364 To balance future needs while maintaining the current small-town character of the city. 1/11/2022 3:25 PM 365 Continuing preservation, coupled with thoughtful business inclusion. 1/11/2022 3:10 PM 366 Get people face to face, ideally enjoying each other, talking to each other, sharing ideas; If you must... meet outside in warm sunshine and six feet apart. And do it repeatedly over seasons.
For those who can't or won't attend, "campaign" for letters or written notes in drop boxes (in various languages and publicized across a broad spectrum of media including posters in public 1/11/2022 3:07 PM
City Council Priorities Setting Process 2022 SurveyMonkey places and door knob fliers.) Ask for citizens' input on what they like, what they don't like, what they want, and what can be improved. Try to picture ALL your constituents from young to old, every color and nationality (and language) who reside in Claremont. And get creative. Ask yourselves and keep asking "How can we reach them? How can we include them? How can we inspire them?" I'm appalled that City Council believes EVERYONE has access to a computer (or smart phone,) knows how to ZOOM, has time or interest to sit and basically listen, and has enough respect and trust in City Council members to actually log on. ZOOM is easy for you.
Check off the box. High fives. Yay! And in some peoples' minds, justifiable 22 months into this scary-bad, highly contagious cold and flu saga. But scary-bad can't last forever, and you will be eventually criticized that you clearly didn't try hard enough to include ALL our citizens in your discussion and planning.
367 work with the colleges. They know what they're doing. 1/11/2022 2:58 PM 368 Improving schools, reducing crime, maintaining Claremont's natural beauty and charm; improving parks. Claremont is losing it's natural charm and distinctiveness as a community! 1/11/2022 2:48 PM
369 More planned town-and-gown activities 1/11/2022 2:38 PM 370 Losing the Laemmle is going to be a real bummer, and I think we need to think of some ways to keep Claremont from just being a place to go to eat and shop. 1/11/2022 2:23 PM
371 Find a way through technology to keep all parts of the community connected so that we can be a part of what is happening in different sections of the city. 1/11/2022 2:21 PM
372 Invest in our parks and recreation, help businesses and the arts especially during Covid. Help the Claremont Courier stay healthy since there's so much bad info out there, plus the Courier is one medium people with different ideas use to communicate. Last thing we need is a more polarized community.
1/11/2022 2:19 PM
373 Don't let our sense of community be lost. Stay focused on programs for seniors and homeless. 1/11/2022 2:14 PM 374 Maintaining timely, transparent, effective communications between the City and the community necessary to sustain a good working relationship aimed at achieving ambitious but mutually agreed upon attainable goals.
1/11/2022 2:00 PM
375 Broadening the availability of lower and moderate income housing Continuing and increasing sustainable development

379 Take advantage of our foothill recreational spaces -- welcome all! The Thompson Creek Trail has an entire community built around it -- do more of this. 1/11/2022 12:04 PM
380 The key is the City leadership and the budget. Adam and his team are doing a great job in the face of the COVID challenges. The City Council members are informed and responsive leaders.

381 Free admission to Claremont Museum of Art for residetnts. 1/11/2022 10:26 AM 382 Local business 1/11/2022 10:15 AM
383 Keep open spaces open and nurture the village businesses. Payoff the debt so we are fiscally sound.
1/11/2022 9:29 AM
384 More multi-cultural and public art events. 1/11/2022 9:26 AM 385 Community events, holiday celebrations to bring the community together for positive experiences
1/11/2022 8:54 AM
386 Discourage new housing development and encourage development to maintain the wilderness park and Claremont club area The development in the village area should not be the focus as it has been in the past. The master plan I that area as it’s currently being done will not be a great success
1/11/2022 7:52 AM
387 Upcoming developments, particularly (but not limited to) "Village South." At the same time, we need to be sure that new developments don't displace long-time businesses and institutions 1/11/2022 7:27 AM
City Council Priorities Setting Process 2022 SurveyMonkey such as the Candlelight Pavilion.
388 Continue to make the Claremont more bike and pedestrian-friendly. 1/10/2022 11:41 PM 389 More community involvement 1/10/2022 8:35 PM
390 I think Claremont is pretty vibrant! Great people, community organizations and small town vibe make it so. Selfishly, would love to see the golf course/driving range open back up, it could be a great community hot spot
1/10/2022 6:52 PM
391 I think we need more opportunities for community members to talk directly to one another across differences. It is so easy to only talk to those who agree with us, especially now that social mixing is discouraged. Creating some sustained dialogue groups around pressing issues (homelessness, affordable housing, policing, etc.) that get community members into sustained conversations would help us build bridges. [FYI, sustained dialogues is a program were small groups meet regularly over a period of time -first getting to know one another and build trust, then tackling some difficult issues together while focusing on common values). 1/10/2022 6:51 PM
392 Free housing for the homeless and affordable housing for families, easier and safer transit to the village from other parts of Claremont
1/10/2022 6:48 PM
393 No more housing in environmentally challenged areas such as the airport (the Commons) and the new baseline developments - air quality and noise pollution are much too poor in these areas.
1/10/2022 6:00 PM
394 I am very excited about Village South as a way to really cement Claremont as a live-work community where every adult in the household does not need a car to get to work every day! 1/10/2022 4:37 PM
395 Working with the Chamber to support businesses, working with the colleges and nonprofits to support culture, quality of life, and Claremont's uniqueness, and anticipating the opportunities offered by the Gold Line.
1/10/2022 3:54 PM
396 Affordable housing, supported by affordable public transportation. (Note: I'm a home owner, and I'm happy to have affordable housing near my own home.) 1/10/2022 3:46 PM
397 Offering a range of human services activities for all ages 1/10/2022 2:14 PM 398 More community building events 1/10/2022 1:39 PM
399 Better restaurants that rival those in Pasadena. Everyone I know goes out of town for a really special meal. We have great bakeries; why can't we have great restaurants? 1/10/2022 1:10 PM
400 If we have affordable housing available, people from many different backgrounds can live and contribute here.
1/10/2022 12:25 PM
401 Providing more recreational opportunities, such as a pool that residents have access to, and purchase of the land near the Webb school to expand the size of the Wilderness Park. 1/10/2022 12:15 PM
402 Buying the land in Webb Canyon for the Wilderness Park, increasing bicycle and walking infrastructure with an emphasis on biking and walking to school, and increasing transit- accessible affordable housing. Also, if I can really dream, I would like to see power lines buried. They are so ugly!
1/10/2022 11:04 AM
403 More events like Blues & Brews to bring different merchants, food trucks & live music hosted by the Village.
1/10/2022 10:44 AM
404 Community events that celebrate our diversity. 1/10/2022 9:55 AM 405 Can we get someone like Jose Andres and his DC based ThinkFoodGroup to develop new restaurants, bars along with new retail, residence and hotel development that further enhance the ‘smallville’ charm of Claremont ?
1/10/2022 9:47 AM
406 We have an opportunity to engage the young people of Claremont into building a generational cadre of leaders. Every half-century or so, there is a moment when young people start paying attention to local politics like they haven't for a long time. These are the moments to being them into civic life, because they will be the city councilmembers, the commissioners, and the school board members in 20-50 years. The new Claremont is now just getting engaged. We need to celebrate and foster this leadership by involving them and getting them experience on the ground in community-based work.

1/9/2022 10:19 PM
411 Young families moving in and being welcomed 1/9/2022 5:10 PM 412 Policies and practices that facilitate more affordable housing in our community 1/9/2022 4:17 PM 413 Improve bike infrastructure throughout the village and surrounding neighborhoods. With the Village South Plan looking like a very walkable, bike friendly plan, it would be great to expand the idea of pedestrian centric streets to the other parts of downtown and the surrounding arteries. Improve and add to the trails in the foothills / Claremont Wilderness areas. 1/9/2022 3:01 PM
414 A larger number and variety of "walks" and other festivities in the Village, extending to Village West and Village South.
1/9/2022 2:20 PM
415 Partnerships with the school district and the colleges 1/9/2022 1:43 PM 416 GET RID OF THE PROSTITUTES AND DRUGS AND MOTELS! 1/9/2022 12:31 PM 417 I think much of that happens with the above answer. We need to be cooperating and planning ahead for a sustainable future for ourselves and generations to come. 1/9/2022 11:52 AM
418 More diverse, unique, hip shopping , dining etc and affordable housing 1/9/2022 10:38 AM 419 1. Village South bringing affordable housing with additional storefronts plus 2. Securing a Gold Line station
1/9/2022 9:48 AM

425 Opportunities for community member of all ages to get involved, whether it is a volunteer opportunity, educational opportunity, or one just to connect at fun events. 1/8/2022 9:35 PM
426 Doing what it takes to welcome more young families who are not millionaires. This requires affordable housing and more apartments. A short-term focus on high property prices helps a lot of people stay wealthy, but will eat away at this town in the long term. 1/8/2022 8:57 PM
427 the development south of the tracks 1/8/2022 8:47 PM 428 DEI in the core of the city’s principals, clearly stated and efforts made in this direction and reported about, I was raised here, moved to Los angles and returned for graduate school, and moved back again with my children. Queer household and struggle with lack of lgbtqia presence and or support as well as DEI in affordable housing 1/8/2022 8:06 PM
429 I think a community garden where seasonal veggies and fruits are grown for people to have a wide access to. This can be accessible to homeless as well so that they get at least a little offering from the people who can afford to share. Compost can be used for this garden and there would be endless bounties and benefits to making this happen. It would be a chance for students to get volunteer hours, for the community to come together and make something beautiful grow. I would really like to see this happen, I think it would be a great opportunity to bring all types of people together.
1/8/2022 7:41 PM

516 Aside from safety, another challenge I see is attracting more diverse cultures in this educated population. Sometimes the types of businesses in this city can attract others to live here. How about having some traditional Asian establishments, such as an Asian market? It sounds 1/5/2022 10:04 PM

Different ethnic celebrations (Lunar New Year, Diwali, Hanukkah, etc.) can also be celebrated as a community, perhaps at a park different from Memorial Park, maybe at Blaisdell Park as it is large enough. 517 Positioning ourselves as a small, intentional, functional yet desirable, supportive, and dynamic hub for the next generations of social/economic/cultural innovators and job-creators, not just as a static college town of rotating minds we nurture but allow to disappear, or a bedroom community for those generating value elsewhere, or an oasis for people who are already established.
