In regard to raises for Council-members.
First I would like to say that I feel council members should be paid and they are being paid a reasonable amount.
I would also like to point out that the council member that is requesting a raise previously stated that council members should not receive benefits or stipends.
For a unreasonable amount of time the same councilman fought hard to prevent police officers from getting their fair raises which he described them to be unworthy.
Numerous times he states "we have got to stop spending money!" As all of you know they were forced to stand beneath council begging and pleading.
The much more honorable councilman Horn ran his campaign on it being a unpaid position.
Once elected he requested to forfeit his stipend check.
Currently inflation has not been so high in 40 years and we are moving rapidly to a recession.
Many of the tax paying citizens are struggling financially.
I feel it would be very selfish for council to give themselves raises at this time.
I believe council should have the integrity to table the matter for the time being.
Regards, Greg Cody
