City of Colfax Historic Colfax Downtown Association – Levit Foundation Staff Report August 19, 2025 Grant Workshop
Staff Report to City Council
FOR THE AUGUST 19, 2025 SPECIAL WORKSHOP
From: Ron Walker, City Manager
Prepared by: Ron Walker, City Manager
Subject: Historic Colfax Downtown Association – Levit Foundation Grant Workshop Budget Impact Overview:

N/A: Funded: Un-funded: Amount: Fund(s):

Summary/Background
The Colfax community has been selected as one of the Top 100 finalists nationwide for the Levitt AMP Music Series Grant. This grant, if awarded, will provide $120,000 in matched funds over three years to fund 7–10 free, professional outdoor concerts in historic downtown Colfax each year. These events would bring visitors to our city, boost local businesses, and create memorable experiences for residents and guests alike.

This grant opportunity was initiated by the Historic Colfax Downtown Association, and if awarded, the funding will go directly to their organization to produce the concert series. The City of Colfax is partnering with the Association to help our community prepare for the next stage — the public voting round, which will take place September 5–15, 2025.

The goals of this public workshop are:
• Learn more about the grant and what it could mean for Colfax. • Review the current voting outreach plan.
• Share your expertise and ideas to make the rollout even stronger. • Find out how you can help spread the word during the voting period. • Coordinate efforts to show strong, visible public support.

Your participation will be key to demonstrating to the Levitt Foundation that Colfax has the unity, passion, and community spirit to make this concert series a reality. Together, we can bring an incredible lineup of free live music to our downtown and create lasting benefits for our city.
