COUNCIL DISCUSSION AND QUESTIONS
All members of the City Council had questions about the budget presentation and its subsequent recommendation by the City Manager; staff responded to all questions and addressed all concerns.
Council Member Chastain brought up the franchise fee from CR& R as to where it was applied. Staff indicated that that would not be in this budget report but would get back to her and Council about where those funds were applied.
Further discernment and discussion between Mayor and Councilmembers took place as the need for additional Police Officers to assist with homelessness and public safety was brought up by Council Member Echevarria.
The majority of council supported Mayor Navarro' s recommendation to acceptthe Fiscal Year 2025-2026 budget aspresented and recommended by City Manager William R.
Smith, but a consensus was not reached because CM Echevarria would not agree unless additional police officer positions were added to the budget proposal.
