RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, ADOPTING THE CITY COUNCIL HANDBOOK WHEREAS, the City Council adopts the laws and policies that determine further the goals and vision of the community and regulate the conduct of the public; and WHEREAS, City Councilmembers adopt laws that promote public health, safety and welfare to help create and maintain the unique nature and character of the community; and WHEREAS, the City Council play a critical function between the community needs and staff, and with these important roles, there are establishes legal and ethical guidelines that Councilmembers need to follow; and WHEREAS, there is a need to update the City Council Handbook to provide pertinent information to councilmembers regarding their roles and responsibilities as councilmembers, the Brown Act, the Political Reform Act requirements, and the relationship between councilmembers and staff, Councilmembers and the public; and WHEREAS, the City drafted the City Council Handbook to provide general information, as well as guidance regarding, among other things, the governing roles and responsibilities of the councilmembers, the Brown Act, the Political Reform Act requirements, and the principles of public engagement.
NOW, THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE FOREGOING, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby adopts the revised City Council Handbook.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and assign it the next number in order.
Section 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Commerce at a meeting held on the 8th day of February, 2022.
