HONORING
Makayla Rice
FOR HER COUNTLESS ACHIEVEMENTS AND VOLUNTEER/
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
WHEREAS, Makayla Rice, currently a 10th grader at Bell Gardens High School, is a lifelong resident of the City of Commerce, and an active community member who has left an incredible mark in the community at such a young age; and
WHEREAS, Makayla Rice was recognized as Woman of the Year 2022 by Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, and her academic distinctions include the Principal Honor Society Award; and Makayla is part of the ICARE program at school; and
WHEREAS, Makayla Rice has tirelessly volunteered in the community by participating in toy drives and community clean-up events and has actively been involved in making food baskets for families in Mexico, donating backpacks to the Ensenada orphanage in Mexico, blankets to the homeless in the City of Commerce, and food boxes for schools; and WHEREAS, Makayla Rice's service and dedication embody her commitment to helping her friends, family, and community; Makayla is a model resident of the City of Commerce, giving back to her community whenever she can, and she actively participates in community events, always displays leadership and perseverance to make the lives of residents better.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COMMERCE CITY COUNCIL HEREBY COMMENDS
MAKAYLA RICE FOR HER SERVICE TO THE CITY OF COMMERCE AND HER VOLUNTEER EFFORTS. THE CITY OF COMMERCE EXTENDS ITS DEEP
APPRECIATION FOR THE SELFLESS CONTRIBUTIONS SHE HAS MADE TO THE COMMERCE COMMUNITY.
