A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING DONATION OF ONE SURPLUS TOYOTA PRIUS SEDAN WHEREAS, the City Council will consider the donation of one (1) surplus Toyota Prius Sedan to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church located in Los Angeles, CA; and WHEREAS, said vehicle was previously designated as surplus property by the City Council as it has exceeded its useful life for public use in accordance with City Policies; and WHEREAS, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is a public charity classified as 501 (C) {3} of the Internal Revenue Code; and WHEREAS, City staff contacted Kelly Blue Book and confirmed that the value for a used 2008 Toyota Prius is approximately $7,800. The item has no impact to the City’s current operating budget; and WHEREAS, Donating the one (1) surplus vehicle will potentially result in a loss of approximately $7,800 in revenue from the sale of the used vehicles via the City’s website auction; and WHEREAS, staff recommends that donation to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. The donation of the 2008 Toyota Prius to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is hereby approved.
Section 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
