TO: Honorable City Council
FROM: City Manager
SUBJECT: A Resolution of the City Council of the City of Commerce, California, Approving the Donation of One (1) Surplus Toyota Prius Sedan MEETING DATE: May 10, 2022
RECOMMENDATION:

Approve the Donation of One (1) Surplus Toyota Prius Sedan to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Vladimir.

BACKGROUND:

At the request of Councilmember Altamirano, the City Council will consider donating one (1) Toyota Prius to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Vladimir to support and help recently minted City of Commerce residents who were Ukrainian refugees. Said vehicle was previously designated as surplus property by the City Council as it has exceeded its useful life for public use in accordance with City Policies.

FISCAL IMPACT:

As such, City staff referenced Kelly Blue Book and confirmed that the value for a used 2008 Toyota Prius is approximately $7,800. The item has no impact to the City’s current operating budget. Donating the one (1) surplus vehicle will potentially result in a loss of approximately $7,800 in revenue from the sale of the used vehicles via the City’s website auction.
