Olivia Dcampo
FOR HER MANY ACHIEVEMENTS AND REMARKABLE TENACITY
AS A YOUNG ROLE MODEL AND COMMERCE RESIDENT
WHEREAS, Olivia Ocampo began participating in Parks & Recreation programs at the age of 6 months; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ocampo's dedication helped her make her way to the Commerce Swim Team, and at age 10 she began playing Water Polo; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ocampo's determination to succeed despite her hearing loss was noticed by her coaches who graciously modified their instruction techniques and coaching when needed and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ocampo's eagerness was clearly seen by her teammates who helped close the communication gaps by playing telephone in the water or on deck to ensure understanding; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ocampo's hearing loss is progressive, the Parks and Recreation program has equipped her with confidence, self-esteem, and assertiveness to take on any challenge; and
WHEREAS, Olivia Ocampo's family is grateful and blessed to have programs that truly make lives better:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE
COMMENDS OLIVIA OCAMPO FOR HER DEDICATION AND PERSEVERANCE AS
A YOUNG ATHLETE, AND FOR HER EAGERNESS TO ADVOCATE FOR HERSELF AND OTHERS AS HER DILIGENCE DOES NOT GO UNRECOGNIZED.
