RESOLUTION NO. -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THE UNITRENDS R9040S STORAGE BACK-UP APPLIANCE SYSTEM FROM COMPUTER 1 PRODUCTS
WHEREAS, as the City of Commerce data system continues to grow with new technology, there is a need to backup additional data. Each year the City's data is growing exponentially as more computerization takes place in the various departments, which results in the need to expand our ability to store data and back it up for recovery purposes; and WHEREAS, the City currently operates two Unitrends Recovery Model 824 file storage and backup systems in the City Hall computer room. They are an integral part of the City's VMWare, Data Backup, Data Restoration, Disaster Recovery between sites and the Storage Area Network. It has been determined that the Unitrends Model 824 is at the end of life and can no longer be serviced.
WHEREAS, As 2023 approaches, the City will reach capacity with its current file storage/backup solution. In order to preserve new important data against loss or corruption, it is necessary for the City to upgrade to a robust back-up server; and
WHEREAS, the new Unitrends Model R9040S Recovery Series Appliance back-up server is an all-in-one appliance that combines software, storage, and computing into one box for easy-to-manage backup with built-in cloud integration that will work seamlessly with the existing Unitrends appliances; and
WHEREAS, Information Technology staff reviewed multiple vendor backup solutions and narrowed the selection to products from GovConnection, SHI and Computer 1 Products. Staff concluded that the solution provided by Computer 1 Products best met the City’s requirements and they offered the lowest total price for the Unitrends R9040S Backup appliance and subscription service in the amount of $68,830.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE FOREGOING, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. Staff is hereby authorized to purchase the Unitrends R9040S Backup appliances and the two (2) year subscription from the awarded vendor Computer 1 Products in the amount of $68,830.00.
Section 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 4. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
