COMMENDATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE
HONORING
TED JIMENEZ:
ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AND
FOR HIS OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY
WHEREAS, Ted Jimenez is a Union representative for 13 years and senior member of the Political Team for the Southwest Regional Council of Carpenters for 7 years; and WHEREAS, Ted Jimenez is a 40-year veteran of the construction industry and began his career as a drywall finisher rising through the ranks to become a gifted instructor for the thousands of apprentices who are rebuilding cities and communities across Southern California; and WHAREAS, Ted Jimenez, as an Apprenticeship Instructor for Southwest Carpenters Training Fund, traveled to various parts of the United States to assist new carpenter signatory companies in developing strategies to maximize the motivation and productivity of their workforce, and building Carpenters' unions community relationships; and
WHEREAS, Ted Jimenez substantially boosted Carpenter grassroots engagements and mainly worked in developing relationships with federal, state, and local elected officials to secure needed infrastructure funding, expanding worker protection and job opportunities; and WHEREAS, Ted Jimenez is also known for his humanitarian work throughout Los Angeles County, helping countless families' lives get a bit better through backpack drives to school kids, Thanksgiving turkey distributions, holiday toys giveaways, and by constructing community gardens and supporting a host of youth activities and programs; and
WHEREAS, Ted Jimenez is a construction worker from humble beginnings, is recognized as a rank-and- file voice of his union in the halls of the U.S. Congress, the California Statehouse, Los Angles City Hall, and in dozens of city governments across Southern California; and WHEREAS, Ted Jimenez is retiring December 2022 after faithfully served his constituents, union members, and Southwest regional Council of Carpenters with character, passion, and dignity for over 40 years:
NOW, THEREFORE, THE COMMERCE CITY COUNCIL HEREBY COMMENDS TED JIMENEZ
FOR HIS UNPARALLELED SERVICE TO THE SOUTHWEST REGIONAL COUNCIL OF CARPENTERS. THE CITY OF COMMERCE EXTENDS ITS DEEP APPRECIATION FOR THE SELFLESS CONTRIBUTIONS HE HAS MADE TO THE UNION. WE WISH YOU ALL THE BEST IN YOUR FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
