RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION FOR THE 49th YEAR OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2023/2024 WHEREAS, the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program has operated since 1974 to provide local governments with resources to meet the needs of persons of low to moderate income; and WHEREAS, the City of Commerce contracts with the Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA) for disbursement of Community Development Block Grant Funds, through the Small Cities Program; and WHEREAS, the City of Commerce will receive an estimated total of $121,295 of funds and has available $67,367 of unallocated prior year funds for a total of $188,662 for Fiscal Year 2023/2024 in Community Development Block Grant Funds and will utilize the funds to budget these projects; and WHEREAS, the City Council has conducted a public hearing and the required prior noticing to provide the public an opportunity to comment on the Fiscal Years 2023/2024 programs proposed for the Community Development Block Grant Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEARBY RESOLVE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2: The City Council approves the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program Budget for Fiscal Year 2023/2024 and directs staff to submit the necessary documents and a copy of this Resolution to the Los Angeles County Development Authority for approval of the 2023/2024 CDBG Project funding as follows:

Section 3: The City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager or designee to submit the final Planning Summary for the Fiscal Year 2023/2024, reflecting the funding allocations set forth herein. In addition, the City Manager or designee is hereby authorized to adjust funding levels throughout the program year and to take into account the final amount of funding awarded to the City in addition to any amounts remaining unspent at the close of the fiscal year as needed.
Section 4: The City Manager or his designee is authorized to execute the contractual and related documents to be prepared by LACDA that are required for the implementation of the programs contained herein.
Section 5. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 6. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
