SUBJECT: Public Works Week Proclamation

RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council consider proclaiming the week of May 21 – May 27, 2023 as National Public Works Week in the City of Commerce.
ANALYSIS:
Since 1960, the American Public Works Association (APWA) has encouraged communities and government agencies at all levels to celebrate the hard work and dedication of the many public works professionals throughout North America who provide, operate, build, and maintain our essential services such as water, refuse, sewers, streets, trees and public facilities.
This year’s theme is “Connecting the World Through Public Works” to illustrate how public works professionals and first responders enhance our quality of life through their service and connect us all through infrastructure; their efforts and achievements make the environment that we live in possible, clean, safe and healthy and it’s important to acknowledge their dedication and hard work.
