A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DESIGNATING THE
MONTH OF MAY 2023 AS
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
WHEREAS, mental health is a vital component of overall health and wellbeing, and affects people of all ages, races, and genders; WHEREAS, mental health conditions are prevalent and can have a profound impact on individuals, families, and communities; WHEREAS, mental health stigma and discrimination are significant barriers to seeking and receiving help and support; WHEREAS, Mental Health Awareness Month is an opportunity to raise public awareness about mental health and promote access to mental health resources and services; WHEREAS, increased awareness and understanding of mental health can help reduce stigma, increase support and compassion, and promote recovery; NOW, THEREFORE, I Mayor Hugo Argumedo, do hereby proclaim the month of May as Mental Health Awareness Month, and urge all individuals, organizations, and communities to support mental health awareness and promote access to mental health services and resources.
