RESOLUTION NO. 23-__
RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL APPROVING THE INSTALLATION OF SPEED HUMPS AND OTHER TRAFFIC IMPROVEMENTS ON TRIGGS STREET BETWEEN MCDONNELL AVENUE AND THE I-5 FREEWAY ENTRANCE WHEREAS, staff has completed a traffic review due to speeding concerns along the corridor of Triggs Street between McDonnell Avenue and the I-5 Freeway entrance; and WHEREAS, based on the Traffic Study and Field observation, the corridor of Triggs Street between McDonnell Avenue and the I-5 Freeway entrance meets most of the criteria for installation of speed humps and would benefit from the installation of speed humps; and WHEREAS, 2 sets of speed humps are recommended on Triggs Street between McDonnell Avenue and the I-5 Freeway with associated Speed Hump Signage and pavement markings; and WHEREAS, based on the Traffic Study and Field observation, the intersections of Triggs Street at McDonnell Avenue and Triggs Street at the I-5 Freeway entrance would benefit from the installation of larger signs and other traffic measures to improve the visibility approaching the two studied intersections along Triggs Street; and WHEREAS, it is recommended to install larger STOP signs with ALL WAY plaque and Red Reflective Strips, required advanced warning signs, refresh all existing pavement markings, and to remove existing “30” pavement legend at the intersections of Triggs Street at McDonnell Avenue and Triggs Street at the I-5 Freeway entrance; and WHEREAS, $30,000 which will come from Measure AA Funds budgeted for the installation of Speed Hump at Various Locations Account No. 41-5170-57010.50014.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COMMERCE DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Commerce hereby finds and declares that the foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporates them herein as findings and as a substantive part of this Resolution.
Section 2. City Council approves the installation of Speed Humps, pavement legends, and signage along the corridor of segment of Triggs Street between McDonnell Avenue and the I-5 Freeway opposite the park and the installation of larger STOP signs and other traffic measures to improve the visibility approaching the intersections of Triggs Street at McDonnell Avenue and Triggs Street at the I-5 Freeway entrance, attached herein as Exhibit A-1, A-2, and A-3.
Section 3. Authorize the Mayor to execute the Resolution for and on behalf of the City of Commerce.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
Section 5. This Resolution shall take full force and effect immediately upon adoption by the City Council.
